Default What Insurance Company do you use

Seems like my insurance on my cobra keeps going up and up, so I want to look around some and get some pricing. What insurance company are you using that covers replicas? Thanks

David

Give Robin at Midwest a call - banner on left side of screen.

And if you want really high rates, move to Michigan - If MI isn't' the highest, then it sure is close.

A second vote for Robin at Midwest. I had American Collectors before licensing my ERA and they wanted a ridiculous amount to add it to my policy which had been reasonable on my old cars.

+3 on this. A nice plus is my collector policy came with an emergency roadside assistance rider....nice touch.

Default Insurance

Grundy, had to have the Cobra towed once and no questions paid the fee and all is well. Very good yearly rate.

Check Grundy. Best rate I could find anywhere.

I know that State Farm will insure Cobras and I was offered a very attractive rate a couple years ago, however my car wasn't ready for registration yet. It will be in a few weeks and I just found out that my long running insurance company- Farmer's Insurance now insures Cobras and other replicas.

If anyone else uses either of these two companies, could you report what your rates are?

Thanks
Bob

State Farm $313.80/yr stated value $45k. Agent told me they only insured it because I have everything else there otherwise it would have been "Sorry but no!".

You better talk to him again, because they technically dont do stated value.
That's your stmt of value and if push comes to shove they pay what THEY think the value is.

To the OP, unless a poster here has had his carrier pay off on a serious claim, or defend him in a serious litigation, then he has no idea about the quality of the product that he purchased or the carrier behind it; he only knows what he paid for it -- and if "they were nice to him" before cashing his check.

AMIG. Personal experience. Pretty reasonable premiums. OUTSTANDING customer service. I had a check for my agreed value exactly five weeks after totaling out my sweetie. They had also sent me a check earlier for what I had to pay for towing, over and above what my AAA covered. They gave me my choice of shops for an estimate, my adjuster had worked in a custom shop for ten years so he knew what was involved in fixing the car. I stayed with them for coverage on my new (to me) ERA and could not be more saitsfied.

I've got all my Insurance with State Farm.

Lots of claims over the years. Never a problem with repairs or buy outs. They are rarely the cheapest, but for my needs, they have been the best.

I don't shop price. When it's my financial future in jeopardy, I want the best on my side.
I do the same with doctors and lawyers.

Quoted for truth.... We hear a couple times a year of people crashing their cars, few (if any) ever speak of how the insurance company handled their claim. I've always wondered

that said, I use
Collector car insurance from American Modern

I don't have it through Robin, although it is one of the companies that he reps. I used a buddy's wife to connect with them while she did insurance and since moving cross country last year deal with AMIG directly.

2 cars on their policy, my FFR and my wife's '66 mustang 'vert. agreed value policies for both ($40k and $30k) and it's under $500 a year

AS have I, including, at one time 3 sports/collector cars and 3 cycles. When it comes to certain large displacement specialty cars, all that means zero, and if there is a total loss there is ZERO stated value. Special carriers simply do a better job on these cars.

Your car is only worth what it is worth at the time of the accident. No more, no less. If my cobra is totaled, it will be valued at whatever similar cars have been sold for in recent sales. State Farm would survey similar sales and then submit a bid to me. If I don't agree with their valuation, all I need to do is provide additional evidence to support my valuation.

Seems fair to me.

I hope you never have to use your Cobra insurance. Without an agreed value policy, you will be nearly defenseless. Leaving the value determination to the company, after the fact, is simply assuring yourself that there will be a fight, and that you will be paying for it. Better line up your attorney now, and start collecting similar sales info. Good luck finding Cobras just like yours for comparables. A FFR is the same as an ERA, isn't it? A Kirkham looks just like a CSX. Same values, right? Oh, boy, are you going to be pissed. "All I need to do is....."
