I used 1/4 mile ET for a factual measurement example.

To put it in road course terms, all things being equal (driver skill and car set up), this could easily translate to multiple car lengths every lap on a road course. This is why Spec series go to such lengths to make sure cars are equally powered.

I have no problem feeling 20-25 rwhp difference in my car, but it's easy to test with my set up.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack, carry on.

Have you given ceramic/powder a thought?

You could achieve 98% of the look of polished with 100% easier maintenance?

Here are a couple examples local to me... I'm sure you'll have the same or similar local to you.

High Performance Coatings
High Performance Coatings | Appearance Coatings

JET HOT (see "Jet Hot sterling" for things that don't run super hot ie: water pumps, manifolds, pulleys, valvecovers, blah blah blah).
www.jet-hot.com.au - Products

...and Just for CSX3183 - Oh no you didn't! The gloves are off!
I like me those purple things... I says it makes my car fasterer.
...and the shinny engine coupled with those purple K&N filters will increase your hp by 23.45%, and make your car significantly faster!
...and, and, and, I'm totally out of unsubstantiated claims

Leave it to a woman to tell it like it is. Showed my wife the thread, after she stopped laughing at the K & N Filter engines, she reminded me what they really look like,

Now we are cooking with gas the juices are starting to flow. I hear all of you and your interpretation of what looks good to you we all have our own tastes.

I have been polishing metal and especially aluminum for over 50 yrs. of course with all the equipment. My latest full engine polish was the new SB2motorcycle engine. This picture was taken immediately after finishing the assembly once the AutoSol was applied it has the look. This is the finish I will put on the 460 after seeing the Stellings may reconsider putting it back on once the engine is done if for nothing else looks.

The Cammer is a beautiful engine when gearing up to build our car found one from a dealer/collector not far from us. Wanted it badly till we started talking about rebuilding not to mention the initial cost of the engine.

If you're still thinking of doing some polishing you might want to check out this thread: How to polish aluminum (how to make shineeee shineeeeee)

Thanks Cycle guy but do not need any tutoring on shine levels can do that as well. I personally do not like the chrome look which by the way all my finishes only need slight buffing to have it.

The SB2 pictured was destined to be installed in a motorcycle it had just been assembled your seeing it is covered in oils, finger and hand prints all a part of the process.
