It was made by Drew Serb. Drew does exquisite work. I would LOVE to own a car made by Drew or Mike.

(I would also LOVE to own a car made by Dave Wagner, but he isn't involved in this project--he specializes in 289 Street cars).

Ahh. Drew purchased Finish Line Accesorries and lives here in the Bay Area. I wasn't aware that he builds Cobras. He's actually located not too far away from Stewart Hall (Hall Fabrication & Racing), who finished up my Kirkham many years ago.

Dave Wagner does outstanding work. Dave actually finished up the Kirkham 427 S/C for the infamous "rsimoes" many, many years ago.

This news just in...

Late yesterday, around 2:00PM, 12,000 CSBI shares were traded, which ain't much, but when the average 10-day volume is roughly 3,000, quadruple the volume is notable.

Stock is up about $0.02 today.

Bid = $0.18
Ask = $0.20

Does he have ties to USAC?

The Mike I know was instrumental in getting USAC to take over the Quarter Midgets from Quarter Midgets of America (QMA).

VERY knowledgeable guy.

This is a most interesting thread. What seems to be emerging is who has the
bragging rights to the "best" replica Cobra. I suspect the answer may well be
a car, or a series of cars, built by David Kirkham's company that have the
most documented NOS parts on them. An MSO signed by Carroll Shelby and
a CSX3000 serial number is only an added enhancement and is not going to
make the car eligible to compete with original 1960s cars for a trophy at
Pebble Beach. No one will be fooled here...the community is too small and too
well educated.

Accurate replicas are wonderful things and I am thankful for their availability.
CSX2047 was my daily driver for five years back in the late 1960s and it was
a wonderful experience. Now, forty-five years later, I have a nice replica to
enjoy! How lucky to be able to travel back in time and enjoy such a visceral
automobile.

Since May 1 the trades have been:

5-May 4200 @ .16
8-May 15300 @ .18
11-May 1000 @ .18
14-May 1000 @ .19
19-May 12000 @.18
20-May 1000 @.20

The likelihood that these are family held shares is almost nil.

I'd be happy for it to go back to $1.00. But like I said, the paper is prettier.

Just think of them as Shelby kit cars, with, many, many, many, many, many, options, to say the least...then you just have a 10 minute story to describe your options and why you cant drive it anywhere, etc...

As I stated earlier, the stock has increased 33% in the past couple of weeks. I don't know who is selling and buying, but my point is, investors must be seeing positive signs in terms of current and future earnings. I've got a sneaking suspicion that CSBI will see some portion of the income from the "Resurrection" Cobra operation.

And yes, I know the non-profit CS Trust will be selling them. but that doesn't mean anything to me.

As for the inclusion of the new cars in the SAAC registry, I have yet to be advised exactly what is supposed to be happening. Some time ago it was decided (or so I thought) that SAAC would deal with the historic cars, and let Shelby American handle the replicas they have made. The DenBeste press release says their cars will be submitted to/ included in the SAAC registry, but that's as much as has been said. I can say with certainty that these cars will not appear with the cars from the 60's regardless of their chassis numbers or whatever they are eventually called.
LMH and RodKnock like this.

Quote by David Kirkham ...."Maybe that one in the press release isn't the one we built? I'm pretty sure we are not the only one building these".

My response...OEY VEY!!!!! Now we have these parts spread all over ...where???? to how many???? Just who has what????

What a hash they are making of this. First by referring to them as CSX 3000 vin cars. Yes, I guess they call them whatever they want but just because you call a banana an apple doesn't make it an apple. They are adulterating, clouding and mucking up their own history in my view.

So it does not seem out of the question that the MSOs for these cars were not auto penned.
Regardless those were for different cars with "supposedly" original chassis he found out back. We all know how that ended.

So now they are using these MSOs with 3000 vin #s for new Continuation Chassis clad with a varying degree of original parts? Sheesh.

I doubt Carroll Shelby would approve of this latest "project". At least I would like to think he would not allow it. If he thought this was appropriate he could have done it while he was alive.

What they are calling these cars is just wrong. Very troubling to me.

Hey that's my line!

Well, some (ME) would say Shelby mucked it all up with the CSX 4000, 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000, etc.

Personally, I can't wait for the 40th Anniversary "Gumball Rally" Edition. Trust me, it's a coming.

Well here is the Gumball car today. Maybe they can copy it for the 40th Anniversary.

That's why I said they need an asterisk in the Registry and their own place in the kinda-sorta-almost section. That would make it clear(er).

Well, that's not what the press release says:

"In 2014, the Carroll Shelby Trust followed Carroll’s wishes and undertook the job of gradually finishing the remainder of the 427 S/C Cobras."

This is all a Cinderella story that we all want to believe in our hearts.
But laying down hard $$ for something is a whole different deal and deserves all the scrutiny here.
If not us, then who??

Well you already have a chapter in the current registry for the 3000 series "completion" cars. I would think that you could either just expand that section or add another section right after it.

Well, I had a very long discussion today with Denbeste, including about pricing, availability, parts sources, etc.. I have permission to post the results here, but have decided not to do so right now because all that will happen is a few detractors will tear it apart and the facts will be lost.

I will say that there are two sources for the cars, frames were from the McClusky era and MSOs (being created at the time the frames were stamped with VINs) are original signatures. (I have a picture with two of them in it.)

If you want the truth call Denbeste.
