Default Cut down windscreens

I noticed in a video posted by Dallas in another thread that his Cobra has a cut down windscreen.

Would appreciate comments and photos from all with bubble or cut down windscreens on their cobras and comment as to:
  • How they did it and what materials they used.
  • How high the top of the screen is above the dashboard.
  • How suitable the screen is for road use without eye protection and/or helmet
  • How effective is the screen as a wind deflector.

It was 20 years ago when I drove with a cut down winshield. The most important part for me was, that I curved it around to meet halfway in the door cutouts. That deflected the wind much better than the original windshield. Height was about half of the glass version.

I made the base myself and used a 3mm polycarbonate or perspex "glass". I screwed the base to the car body with about 10 screws. I used as many for the glass to aluminium base.

I also drove with the single seater windshield. The kicker here is, by reducing the frontal area you gain quite some "free" horsepower at higher speeds.

I will do it again for the new car I am building. Using the half high shield. It's also cheaper...
I can't find any pictures.
