Regardless of what opinions everyone has on the Real or Replica, CSX4206 is one freaking bad ass car! If I couldn't own a 427 built in 65-67, then an aluminum bodied CSX4000 would certainly be my next choice!!!! Awesome ride !!!!!

Isn't there a Breitling watch that sends out a an emergency beacon so the pieces of your body can be recovered after your plane crashes?

Yup, those are Yugoslavian Timex replicas, right?
Buffett would've been happy now if he bought those two when you did. Exceptional time pieces, especially those two models (I'd have a tough time choosing).

It doesn't get better than Pateks.
What is an original Nautilus?

I'm not a big fan of the Bentley line (a little too much "stuff"), but there is the Flying B Chrono thats just a bit simpler/clean than the rest of the line. I think they throw in a new Bentley too (I could be wrong).
BTW, there are many fabulous places to view/buy the great watches. The one downstairs at the Venetian comes to mind...Armenian salesman there is pushing me to get a certain Portuguese model. Another is the shop next to the Petrossian cavier bar in the lobby at the Bellagio.
But IMO, the bestest place on the planet is at Harrod's. Several years ago, they created the amazing watch shop off the food court. A central area with some nice brands, with halls shooting off in all directions...each a specific brand's factory boutique. I spent hours in there and somehow walked out without buying a damn thing. Thanksbetogod...the dollar wasn't assactly doing too well against the pound that year.
That all being said, it's usually best to find a place that carries a multitude of brands and do business with them over time...easier to do trades with someplace that knows you. For me, that's Shrieve & Co. off of Union Square in San Francisco (moving).

Self winding, waterproof to 120m, came out in 1985.

Always love the sketch story. The best stuff always has a story. It's like these cars.
The Smiths (FFR) and the beginnings of the London show and the way everyone banded together regardless of what they drove just because their hearts said so.
Davey K. learning Polish and stepping off the business cliff during the post Cold War and building a better tin can.
CS begging for and receiving a V8 and shoving into a classic British sports car.
It's all good.

Okay we finally moved on from the real or replica argument in this thread for a while at least now it's watches and other things. Since I have not worn a watch in 45 yrs have no interest as I'm sure most would not care to hear about my authentic antique 2 cylinder John Deere tractors.
It is amazing how long this has dragged on and still nothing has changed. Some need to own original some do not it seems way too simple.

I have a Breitling emergency. Great watch, does everything you want it to. Only paid 70 bucks for it. People are more impressed with how cheap I got it, then thinking, what? you paid how much for an original.Lol.
Even a jeweler couldn't pick it until he changed the battery.
Same with my Cobra. I don't care it's a fake. Why care what a total stranger thinks.

Agree, it appears to have run its' course.
As the SAAC National Director said 2 years ago -
Those "in the know," know exactly what they are.
Those who don't...have to keep explaining it.
Seems we can all finally agree the "red herring" fish bowl just got a little bigger but nothing to get worked up over.

I'd love to hear about the tractors! We donated all of my grandfather's equipment from the early 1900s to the county farm museum years ago and I wished we would have have kept some of the implements I used growing up, including the plow I used behind our draft horses in the 60s in the vined tomatoes. You learn a lot walking behind a horse's ass all day.
I have a client who has kept 30+ old small tractors (Deeres, Olivers, Fords) running for his tree fruit operation due to their size...has a dedicated shop that keeps them in perfect order and freshly painted and polished.

Have you pulled out the antenna to 'test' it?

In quiet tribute, let me say it ain't over til it's over. I think of the periodic "discussions" about real vs replica as being like oceanic tides...

Now you have me interested. What IWC are you looking at. I just sold my Portugese 100 year commemorative. When they came out, they could'nt give them away, now quite collectible.
You ever talk to O.J. on the Panieri's. You need an East coast connection for occaisional "close out" prices.

I'm sure history will repeat itself, it always does. In the meantime, several years ago I was on the hunt for a TAG Heuer Kirium Professional 200M with a beige face (not white). I know they made it ('70s era) because I saw one. Looked hi and lo but never found one.
TimeZone : Sales Corner » FS: TAG Heuer Kirium Professional 200M White Face
Edit: Beige face with that specific hour hand shape.

Nope, never had the pleasure. I'm on Paneristi often...as a lurker most of the time believe it or not...so I see where folks are buying. Shreive treats me well.
I'm not sure which one of the Portugese I would end up with...haven't seen a bad one yet. Likely would be dressed for more formal occasions.
