Default 12 1/2 years and I am almost done

If I had realized it was going to take this long to finish it I would have probably put an automatic in it even though that's not very pure so now I'm wondering if maybe I should convert it the final speed to the automatic how about some thoughts about that as we grow older and wonder.

There were a handful of automatics.

Do what YOU want with it...doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

Earl,

As said in the above posts, put what you like in it, it is your car. The conversion will be quite a bit of work now that you already have the other transmission in it, but it can be done. Good luck and keep us posted.

Carrol Shelby's was an automatic and so is George Anderson with Gessford Machine. But, there will be some major mods to get everything to fit.

The Supersnakes were automatics. Your twin turbos would love an auto, no falling off boost between shifts.

It's all about you and what you want...sometimes just hitting the go pedal is just fine!

Earl,
Several years ago I was at a track event where I met a parapalegic man with a Cobra replica he and his brother had built. It was equipped with an automatic transmission and hand controls. He wasn't the fastest guy on the track, but he clearly was having more fun than anyone else. ..... Several years earlier I was a guest at a GM test track when they gave me a Corvette to use for the day on their autocross track. It was the only auto car I have tried to drive hard on a track. I was very impressed. Any time I needed to be in a particular gear, it was already there. ... Unless you are concerned about the opinions of people whose opinions don't matter, build it however you like.
