Default Current Shipping Recommendations

Can any of you comment on who you have used in the last 60 days to ship a car? I don't need feedback on who you used two years ago, only interested in knowing who has been most timely and cost-effective recently (given falling fuel prices).

Thanks,

Jim

From? To? Driftwood, TX? Recommendations on east coast shippers will be of limited or no value if you're shipping from CA to TX.

WTF, fly out there and drive the thing back home. That's the only way you'll find out what's about to break on it.

Trust me, that is currently the #2 option. The thought of seeing how fast I can get from Boston to Austin is enticing as hell.

Signed,

Bannon.

BTW....you must now cry "uncle" and admit you would NEVER do it with your ERA.

Not certain you can say "cost effective" when you are shipping enclosed, however, I've used the following three in the last 4 months without ever an issue

Enclosed Auto Transport - Intercity Lines
http://www.reliablecarriers.com/
Enclosed Auto Transport, Enclosed Auto Shipping, Classic Car Storage - Horseless Carriage Carriers

Thats no joke. Someone forgot to tell these guys that diesel fuel prices actually came back down to $2/gallon. I've got a brand new F250 diesel that along with my trailer is starting to look to be the best option by far. Pat's taunt is tempting just so he can be "pea green with envy."

I just used this company within the past month. They're a broker.

Angels Moving Autos

This past move was my 3rd time using them. And they're always cheaper than Intercity.

I have used Intercity and Reliable (admittedly not in the past 6 months) and used them interchangeably. Both are reputable carriers.

However, a few words of warning. You are moving headlong into the January auction season. Most of the major's fleets will be optimizing routes to move auction cars to/from Phoenix. Your biggest issue with the majors will be scheduling. Overall, auctions are making it very difficult to get short lead times from them. For example, in 2014 when I wanted to move my Ford GT from Colorado to Vegas, both of the above quoted 6 weeks lead time. The Ford GT rally was working with someone and he managed to find me a spot on a "reserved" load (I couldn't meet the driver until all of the rest of the stuff was off the truck).

In working with the majors, it's not so much the company as the driver. When I lived in CO I moved my Cobra twice with Intercity and luckily got the same driver both times (he was based in Denver.)

Good luck!

Give Joseph Johns a call, and tell him Troy Kruger sent you. He is the fastest and he is a car guy like us. He is a broker, but he's awesome. I used him 3 times in the last 6 months and it's all been wonderful. Tell him your requirements. If you want only a hard side truck, tell him. He will work his ass off for you to get your car weeks ahead of the competition for less money.

Please post pics of your new car. Pics of the engine bay as well, unless you're going to pop that extra engine you have in to it at a later date....

I will post some pics after it arrives in TX in a few days. Its a 32 year-old CCX that has had a lot of nifty upgrades and lots of patina. I think coupled with my rare side oiler and some handiwork towards originality it will be a very cool car. From the first time I hit this site I admired Jeff Gagnon's blue CCX; this car suggests to have that character. We shall see.
