... and sometimes being a pit bull does nothing but churn fees. There is something to be said for compromising and "meeting in the middle."

Dan,
You just described a big part of my life. I have been in big construction industry for 40 years, but I'm on the other side as the contractor fighting the agencies and bonding companies on claims etc.

Yes, my best lawyer is a little Italian gal from NYC that is a total pit bull. I mean brutal! I have seen her tear up a room of lawyers that just left everyone speechless.

I have a feeling Evan is of the same cloth if he wants to be!;)

Yes, I've spent 40 years in the Corps on construction management so I'm usually on the other side - although I've been summoned to court a time or two for a dispute between a contractor and sub. I did develop quite an appreciation for the hard licks and risks a contractor takes - especially on competitive Gov't contracts. I tried to did my best to see if we couldn't come to some agreement on issues that would keep both of us solvent and out of court - but a few times we just couldn't get there. In this case the contractor was a big outfit that went bankrupt during the middle of the job - a potential buy out fell through - and the bonding company picked it up and hired another party to finish it. But, the job was in too big of a hole by then and there just wasn't any getting out of it without trying to come after the Government. I'll tell you - I almost preferred being deposed and cross examined by opposing counsel than being prepared for court by Cousin Vinney. Some of us were about ready to defect to the other side. Those east coast lawyers are tough.

Lol! Yup - here it is. It was a 3 way fracas with you, Ernie and Evan. The good old days...

I guess I'm not privy as to the circumstances why Evan was booted, and even so, what would that have to do with his selling his beloved Cobra? If I was booted, that would not force or induce me to sell my Cobra, as it is the pinnacle of sports driving and a lifetime accomplishment to the car I wanted as a kid.
I still say he will return (or at least let us know) and will own a real original Shelby Cobra, the kind he often claimed he had and obviously coveted. Just a gut feeling.

Earlier in this thread, Dan posted a link to Evan's post regarding the reason he's selling his Cobra. In his own, publicly stated words: "Planning on moving back to a Porsche GT3. Can't justify having both. It was the Cobra or the FGT."

Yes, one and the same. :D

Is Ernie still posting? I haven't seen the "Excaliber" moniker for a while....

Ron61 01-23-2016 06:31 AM

XB-60,

He hasn't posted for about 2 years I believe it is. He was going to sell his Cobra and then he just quit. The last email that I received from him he had bought a place in Oregon and moved up there.

So what is the car really worth then, if a roller is $160.000 plus drive train, paint, assembly, sorting out, ect, not to mention wait time. It does not seem that far off. plus as they ad says negotiable even if it is just a little, not that I am in the market I just don't think the car is that far off the mark.

Thanks Ron. I thought seriously about buying his ERA 427 back about five years ago, so we corresponded a bit.
A character, huh?

Cheers,

Well a 4000 series continuation was just bid up to $325,000 at Mecum Anaheim but didn't hit the reserve.

Agree, not many cobra kit cars have that level of detail.
