That won't work when it comes to hard money. Such distractions may be enjoyable, but in my experience when it comes to "nut cutting", well...

I used to hire attractive sales women. They would wine and dine client etc, but when it came down to it the client basically said "OK, so now who do I talk to about the deal". Then it goes back to pure business...

Sounds incredibly sexist, but you do realize the female gender of our species has evolved over the years since the "Mad Men" generation.

I think if we just have Mr. Mustang comb his hair, that will be sufficient.

Evan has mixed feelings about even selling the Cobra and I doubt if he is going to lower his price very much for anyone. He really hates the thought of having it go and from day to day thinks about changing his mind. I wish I could afford it as I would buy it in a minute.

The one thing that always happens with something with notoriety, is no matter who buys it. It will always be evan's car. "I see you bought Evan's car" or "wasn't that Evan's car"
and so on. And that's the stigma that car will have, and end up being more of a subject of conversation than the car itself.

For those who follow the hobby, I agree. For them it will always be the supreme example of a car that's even better than an original, but not one. .. But if the buyer is willing to reserve his half-truths for the uninformed, it can be an original Shelby Cobra that's just like those million dollar cars you see on TV. I hope any new owner knows the difference between those two audiences.

As much press as The Real One is getting he must be smiling. He certainly did not love his car more than most of us. Especially those of us who spent the time and aggravation of seeing our builds through to the end. No doubt his car is a beauty I hope he gets what he wants.

Not likely, since he doesn't know what he wants. So, even if he got it, he wouldn't even realize that he had it.

I am led to believe he wrote the ad content. It has the same "flavor" as his posts here on the club.

Goog Luck Evan, PT Barnum has never failed in his estimate of the human element.

Well, tell Evan, if he's not going "to lower his price very much for anyone", then he shouldn't have mixed feelings, because at $230,000, his Cobra isn't really for sale.

Vern's CSX 4227 at $160,000 obo is a far far better deal and AFAIK, it hasn't sold. And while Evan's CSX4206 may be "fitted out" with all sorts of details that Vern's doesn't have, to me, there's the "law of diminishing returns." And the rivet pattern is wrong.

$70,000+ is, well, $70,000. And in my opinion, "paint schmaint." I prefer bare aluminum.

I'll take the counterpoint to your post.

The President of the Manhattan Nissan Leaf Owners Association may actually have a point.

If I may interpret his comment...

I think what he's trying to say is that anyone paying $230,000 for Evan's CSX4206 is likely buying into the fact that he or she will own an original, genuine, authentic, Shelby Cobra made by Carroll Shelby and Shelby American. If a buyer isn't "buying the story" and just likes or has heard the Shelby name before, thus a "Kirkham with a plaque" would suffice, then they would or should pay the typical alloy CSX selling price of $150,000-$200,000. Say like Vern's alloy CSX4227.

Wow - REAL1 has left the building and we can still fill up a 6 page thead in his behalf without a single remark from him. That's impressive.

That seems to be the way the world works today. Create controversy or be controversial, then people will talk about you, oh, and your car too.

In all likelihood the buyer will not even know anything of this place and will be unaffected by all of this.

So, you don't think the buyer will even google CSX4206 and see what the results are? I can't even imagine a buyer of any used vehicle won't google the VIN# or in this case the Shelby CSX# before, during or after the purchase.

Google CSX4206 and see what the results are. The first non-video non-picture link are results from Club Cobra.

As I have stated before, most CSX owners don't come here because of the general attitude. So if they do look it up, they will take it for what it is, and furthermore, you'll not hear from the buyer as singing up would just paint a bashing target on his/her chest. I'll guarantee you the first comment (from one of two or three people here first) will be "what an idiot you are" rather than a compliment like "what a nice car you've boght". Why bother? Good luck thinking you'll be able to trash his sale though.
