I agree with Rodknock. If / when it happens, we will be seeing the classic "Just Bought a Cobra" first post here. And just look at this welcoming committee!

I'll guarantee you the first comment (from one of two or three people here first) will be "what an idiot you are" rather than a compliment like "what a nice car you've boght". Why bother? Good luck thinking you'll be able to trash his sale though.
Trust me, when you're buying a $200,000 +/- used vehicle, you're going to want to know the history. It's just common sense in the Year 2016. That's why folks in all sorts of car forums post VIN's, because they know future buyers will want to know the history. Whether the buyer signs up here at ClubCobra is an entirely different statement from the one which you made.

And Evan's car doesn't get "bashed," everyone here recognizes that it's one of the best of its kind. It's Evan that became the "lightning rod." Any new owner, if there's an actual sale some day, will get a fresh start. I can't remember any legitimate current or future Cobra owner being "trashed."

Oh, there was a member that left CC after selling his Kirkham about 10 years ago, his CC moniker was "rsimoes." He definitely riled up the masses.

I kind of tend to doubt that there would be much if any trashing of a new owner of that car here. I think a new owner of that particular car would be welcome here with open arms. I see very few, if any, negative comments about the car itself and more open admiration. Trashing has always seemed to be against Evan and his opinions, not the car. But, I'm sure there will be some jerk wanting to try to stir things up, which would be sad to see!

And I'm pretty sure that if someone started bashing a brand new member and excited owner of that car here would be dealt with by plenty of us here, including "Papa JAMO"

If I may interpret his comment...

I think what he's trying to say is that anyone paying $230,000 for Evan's CSX4206 is likely buying into the fact that he or she will own an original, genuine, authentic, Shelby Cobra made by Carroll Shelby and Shelby American. If a buyer isn't "buying the story" and just likes or has heard the Shelby name before, thus a "Kirkham with a plaque" would suffice, then they would or should pay the typical alloy CSX selling price of $150,000-$200,000. Say like Vern's alloy CSX4227.
Yep, most of us got it, that was Evan's shtick and he has priced it accordingly, for people with stupid money.

Agreed.

If anything let's continue bashing the old-timers here, you know, like the members who painted their Cobras beige and then decided to "double down" and paint their wheels the same "desert storm" Hummer color.

I think that sounds like a reasonable plan.

Corner balance? (which I support)
White paper towel oil leak detection?
I am going off memory here and all in fun Patrick!
You are always quite meticulous and well documented, which is appreciated.

Well I just happen to have my car up in the air, as we speak, down in the garage where I'm preparing to do a full brake and clutch fluid flush using... drum roll... the true BLUE Colored ATE Super Blue DOT 4 fluid that you can't even buy anymore in the U.S. You have left me no choice but to take pictures of the flush, with Ellie in the background, and I just might even start a new thread dedicated to it.
Dimis and Mongoose930 like this.

Using a Motive Products bleeder yet?
Look forward to seeing the new thread and the painstaking methods.

Hahahaha,
Looks to me like you all have "Evan Envy", the guy isn't even here anymore and this is the busiest thread in years.

Maybe a few of you need a life outside of Cobras.

The guy is who he is, I have been amused at how easily he gets a bite for most of my time here.
Let him have his rant, let him repeat his questions, if you don't like what he says, don't reply, then he has nothing to bait you about.

I will miss his crazy jabbering.

No, vinyl surgical tubing attached to the bleeder screws, terminating in to a clean Claussen pickle jar with a small amount of fluid in it. Then I have my teenage assistant pump the appropriate pedal while I open the bleeder, observing the fluid travel down the tube. After a good flush, I tighten it off and move on. The big Sierras up front have two bleeders on each caliper. I've been doing it this way for decades -- I don't think there's any better way.

So, you're basically saying that you're using an illegal substance that, if found using it, could land you in trouble with the law?

Your local BAR Association ought to hear about this one.

This particular batch was purchased before the DOT ban... so it's grandfathered. But I do know a guy...

Actually looking forward to the new thread so we don't pollute or stray off too far on this one. I do like the idea of different colored brake fluid though.

But it does tell you something about the state of our government that I could buy an ounce of Panama Red easier than a can of ATE Super Blue.

Speaking of "polluting", assuming that you do have a receipt to prove the purchase date, then it's no longer a question of legality, but one of morality.

As I understand it, the sole reason it is now prohibited is that the color of brake fluid must be clear or amber. As to "morality," we've got enough Al's around here as is, we certainly don't need any more.
