Cool that the Cobra is faster, but boy is that stupid on those crowded roads.

Of course not! Street racing is childish, irresponsible and very dangerous......
(that sounds just like my ex wife describing Cobras in general!)
So, what does a replacement clutch for a new GT3 cost?.......

As an aside, GT3's have launch control.
If properly used, that GT3 would be sitting at a coffee shop down the road waiting for the cobra to get traction.

The GT3 is not designed for drag racing. Given equally skilled drivers, the results on a road course would probably be very different. As for dragging Porsches, try a Turbo S with launch control; 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, consistently, and no clutch to wear out.

We heard all of the same quoted technical specifications, launch control and wheelspin issues in the Cobra vs. Ferrari 458 match up. On paper the Ferrari won hands down but on race day the Cobra still brutally kicked its tail 3 races out of 3.

Those horrific launch controls have fewer lives than a cat. That's for sure.

Maybe the Cobra was "real" and the P car was a replica... Can't wait to see how many pages this turns into

I have a couple questions.
Is that NYG in his Nissan Leaf videotaping the race and, if so, did his friend in the Porsche have additional ballast in the car, since NYG buys his kitty litter from Petco in bulk and his friend in the P-car appears to have helped him get it home?

Full disclosure: I'm not a Porsche guy (though I did own a modded 930 turbo back in my "youth"), but it is an inconvenient truth that once your front engined, rear wheel drive car reaches a certain power point, it becomes impossible to apply much more force to the pavement without drag slicks. I realize that there are replica Cobras out there that properly prepared and shod with the right tires run 9s at the strip, but a vast majority of the street driven cars would struggle to break the 11 second mark.
Back to real life in 2016. My current ride is a hot rodded '98 Corvette (sorry!) that makes 903 hp at the wheels, but runs on sporty car Michelin Pilot Sports tires. In spite of my 335 width rears, my friends 2011 Turbo S consistently eats my ass from a dig up to 70-80 mph, at which point I pass him as if he had dropped an anchor. Most street encounters have ended before that speed is reached.

But the Ferrari California that made the left turn wanted nothing to do with them.....

My impression too. I think the Porsche driver was conflicted - didn't know whether to drop the clutch or not - ended up feathering it and burned the heck out of it.

I enjoyed this red light/green light incident more.
Two guys beating each other while the light is red. When the light turns green, they both go back to their cars.

Definitely safer than drag racing to +/- 100 mph on public streets! Light turns red, rev engines, talk trash then jump out and have at it. Light turns green, get back in and drive safely away without endangering joe public. Winner is decided on you tube. The new paradigm! I believe most Cobra drivers would kick most Ferrari drivers' asses.

Well, did that "on paper" calculation take into account that the cobra had 750HP and there was so much VHT on the track a golf cart could barely pull through it?
... just sayin'

Assolutely. Butt - that scenario was summarily cancelled out by the postulation that if a Cobra that powerful could somehow be made to hook at launch, then something in the drivetrain would surely let go and it wouldn't make it past half track, let alone survive to win the required two races out of three.
