Colorado Registration Question from Nebraska
Reached two new milestones, just retired and just finished my ERA Slabside. Also in the process of trying to relocate to Colorado as my son already lives in Colorado Springs. The Colorado real estate market is very hot right now so its taking longer to find a home than I anticipated.
Thought I would go ahead and title and register the Cobra in Nebraska. What A living hell! After multiple visits with the DMV, inspections by the Sheriff's office and inspections by the Nebraska State Patrol, it appears the best I can do is to get a 3-year Bonded title. Just a couple of items are that they will not accept the Statement of Origin from ERA and treat all "component cars" the same as if I dragged something out of the salvage yard without a title. I have receipts for everything, for example, they will not accept my receipt from Summit for the TKO600 because it doesn't have the transmission serial number on it. There is more and I am tired of this abuse.
I have learned that no matter how much you study the DMV website, calling, etc. there is no substitute for actually going thru the process. So any information on the Colorado process would be greatly appreciated. I would be most interested in the inspection process and what receipts they actually require. Nebraska did not want anything other than a receipt for the car, the engine, transmission and VIN's. They were not interested in the giant folder of other receipts I have. Thanks in advance . . . .
