Then again, what would I know about the replica market, something the current seller/broker has always put down whenever marketing his "superior product"
Seems like you two guys have had an ax to grind for awhile, also looks like you threw the first jab, just sayin'.

I saw that FFR at Vanguard in person. They were asking in the 40's. The Bondurant SPF they had at the same time was a lot more impressive but they were asking too much for it. I offered on it but they only came off a couple G's and let me walk.

Joe,

Long ago, yes, Stephen and I butted heads, some of what he posted in the past needed to have a rebuttal, and I jumped in with glee, there is no hiding it, it happened, and is here for all to review for themselves all by doing a search of the forum. The difference for me at least, is this is water long under the bridge, and it's been years. He might still hold that grudge, not liking when fact overrides fiction, but as he already knows, I do not.

As for this thread, instead of discussing the car in question, or responding to anything about the car, he is attempting to turn in into something personal. Grasping at straws and posting bits and pieces of my LinkedIn profile in hopes of doing just that.

But it's not about me, nor him, it's about the FFR he posted in ALL TALK COBRA, (a discussion sub forum which allows such open and honest discussion and opinions). You'll notice since this is a discussion forum, there are plenty of other Cobra replicas in which I and others have discussed values, conditions, quality of the build, rarely do any of us get called out in such a personal nature by doing so, after all, that is what this sub forum is all about, isn't it?

I guess I can leave it at that, while we await Mr Becker's next attempt at derailing this thread.

For now, until you do your own searches of the forum, we can agree to disagree. Notice that we both did so in a calm, cool, concise and respectful way. This is how the forum should generally be.

Enjoy the day

Bill S.

As Bill said earlier, if I'm a buyer of a $50,000 Cobra, then I'm looking at an SPF or ERA before looking at an early FFR with the perky butt. And as I said, the side-oiler would help resale value more, if it were installed in an ERA for sure, and could go either way with the SPF.

But before a side-oiler adds any value, it would help the buyer to know whether this side-oiler is an OTC side-oiler or a factory installed side-oiler. What year is the block? Does it have solid or hydraulic lifters? And what was the block bored to?

Also, some folks like the 4-speed Toploader (Hello Bernica!), though most are ERA/CSX/KMP owners, and others like me prefer a Tremec 5-speed, so that potentially could be another detraction from the resale value of this FFR. As I mentioned earlier, I think the target market for FFR's skew younger and the youngsters want OD.

"Notice that we both did so in a calm, cool, concise and respectful way" - Really Bill? You may think you did it in a cool, calm, concise and respectful way but you did no such thing - You slandered me - You attacked me unprovoked and without any reason what so ever. You can have and post all the opinions you want about my clients car that I am selling for him but you crossed the line when you attacked me personally, attacked and questioned my reputation and my companies ability, you defamed me & for that there is consequences.

My client paid the asking price of $ 54,995.00 from Vanguard / He bought it off of eBay from them - here was the info - Not sure what car you were looking at in the 40's but it was not this one

With all due respect sorry, I just don't see it for that kind of $$. But that's just me.

Stephen,

It's funny, I expected you would come back with such a response, and deny 100% that I have yet to ever cross a line into such allegations as you just posted above by openly and honestly discussing the car you are brokering for "your client". Same goes for my responses to your posts in this discussion thread. Truly sad that you cannot discuss the merits of the vehicle in question and must resort to veiled threats.

Regardless, here is wishing you a wonderful day..

Well, I'll have to quibble with the word "veiled." When someone says "You slandered me" and "you defamed me & for that there is consequences" that doesn't appear to me to be "veiled."

I knew this once, but what is the difference between "defamation, libel and slander." Eh, I can google it. All we need is Patrick to chime in here.

Well, if not Patrick I would guess that JAMO ("The 3rd rail") can swoop in and answer that question!

Would sure love to know the casting numbers on the block, heads, and such.

Maybe details of the engine build as well as a dyno sheet.

Maybe see what rear suspension is actually there, I know it's not a 3 link, looks like a standard, donor four link with donor Mustang coils from the one vague picture posted.

Of course the seller (owner) has already told the broker (SGB) that he is not an expert, which makes me wonder if the car is everything the original selling dealer said it was, now regurgitated in the current for sale ad on Ebay.

Anyone else see things I may have missed in my quick perusal of the current auction listing?

The ad says 4-link, but I have no clue if that's better than a 3-link. Usually 4 is better than 3. And 1 is the loneliest number.

You're probably out of popcorn because you spend too much time at Petco buying products for all your cats.

The Vanguard website has much more detailed photos, including some that show a few more technical issues. Suspension appears to be a full on donor build.

Well, I went through every pic and here are my observations in no particular order. These are just things that popped to me as if I was looking at the car.

BFG Tyres
Where's the expansion tank? (maybe I missed it)
Engine looks tucked way too far back into the firewall
Firewall in general
Pusher fans?
HUGE (long) quick jack extensions (not sure what's going on there)
Wheels
Shifter setup
Return springs for the carb? (maybe missed something, I see the one spring)
Oil pan needs to go to a Disco Party
Ribbed block says it's an OTC service block

I'm sure I will get slammed for some of this. Just my own thoughts...
