I thought he was replacing that one. Personally, I'd upgrade the car before I upgraded the engine.

I've talked to Kevin (FUNFER2) a few times and I believe he has been around the block a few times with big engines.

If he goes over 600HP that calls for a special transmission, beefed up rear, other stuff... and the wallet is getting kind of thin.

I dont know why I'm even answering that question.
Yes, the Lonestar is fully boxed frame, support members,....etc.
Stronger than a lot of Cobras out there, but I have heard the ERA's are very weak &
dangerous.

We tell him that all the time! He's actually one of the good guys and very helpful here. Color blind for sure, but a good guy all-in-all
See what a nice guy I can be?

My understanding is he's a lawyer, which if true, means he's no doubt been called worse, and in worse ways.
Some could perceive him as one who likes pissing on the parade, others could term his comments the voice of reason. Same coin, but a different view.
If you remove any emotion, and give him the benefit of doubt about having any prior knowledge of your car (as he mentioned), then even the most die hard would likely concede its a prudent question.
In any case, I'm glad to hear both you and your car can handle the numbers your aiming for.

Long list, here just some highlights:
Ford 460 seasoned block
Eagle Crankshaft 4.140
Performance rod and main bearing
True double roller timing set
Manley push rods
Comp Cams ground, hydraulic rollers
Edelbrock cylinder heads
Edelbrock intale (goes)
Holley 950 CFM (goes)
The engine produced over 600/600 hp/ftptq
I'm still tinkering what tranny and rear end to match.....that's a ton of torque

Not trying to rain on your parade, but it's possible that you may not be seeing the fiscal realities clearly. And, if that's the case, there are probably other clouds on your horizon... like whether the other parts in your car will hold up or not. A Pollyanna approach, be it in business or Cobra drive trains, rarely succeeds.

Just something to keep in mind, which I'm sure you are aware of....
Sticky tyres (Avons) with huge TQ and HP on pavement can = twisted axles and other broken hard parts all the way up the line. There is a great pic somewhere on this site of a half-shaft that looks like a pretzel!

Yep, and while Pollyanna and Jack Bruce were both glad, a twisted half-shaft would have made them both quite sad.

I just did one a few weeks ago... on Michelin street tires... short-shifting 2nd-3rd... who says you can't put power to the ground in these cars.
