I hate the sound of a 6 cylinder. Sounds like a rice burner. And the car is so awesome.

I agree. I wish they had used a V-8 in them, but lousy sound and all, they did do very well for new car.

Awesome video!
Personally, I don't care one bit how many cylinders it has (or hasn't ) - its an awesome looking car and it sure gets the job done. Driving it and feeling the urge and grip at 180 mph, the sound would be music to my ears. Just because Ford decided a six cylinder was the right engine for the new GT doesn't mean the V8's in our Cobras aren't cool anymore.
I'd bet that the real issue many have with the engine selection is the amount of stake they have in the "ricers suck, no replacement for displacement, V8's rule, etc, etc." rhetoric. Now that Ford's flagship, the king of the hill of US performance cars is running a six, the fear is that the ricer crowd will be one up on us now and scoffing at the big heavy lumps in our engine bays.
But don't worry - soon enough, electric power will rule and even those hated four and six bangers will join us and our big V8's in dinosaur land.

Well, as I write this they are leading in their class again at Watkins Glen! It's on FS1 and about half way through the 6 hour race...

I attended Le Mans, and they didn't sound bad in person compared to videos. The V6 twin turbo was chosen for the smallest possible package (aero advantage) and less fuel stops. I'm sure the production cars will have an enormous amount of time devoted to the exhaust system : )

Well put and accurate I believe. Ford is also wanting to push their EcoBoost engine program across all platforms. What better way to underline that than on the track beating V8 Ferrari, Aston and Corvettes among others? They got something right for sure!

Great battle against the BMW at the end! These Ford guys with the little 6-bangers are onto something!

For someone who spend the mid 60s in Europe following the Cobras and GT40s and hearing the roar of those big V8's in contrast to the European sewing machines... this is difficult to accept....
At the Targa in 1964 you could hear a American V8 coming for miles and the Italians would wet themselves in excitement....
It would make your hair stand on end to hear a GT40 at full song at LeMans..
I feel very lucky to have been around for those days and the Trans Am and the Can Am...
I remember when Gurney ran for President....and now he is 85....

Those are great memories that no one can take from you. Wish I was there as well. Yes, there is nothing like an American V8 screaming on the track! BTW, I also LOVED CanAM!! Good times.

Congrats to Ford!
Interesting view with that cam. I wonder if this is how certain animals see things...

Pan around in the cockpit and check out the console area. It looks like the Space Shuttle in there!

I like that rear vision screen
big arrows pointing at following cars that appeared to change colour depending on whether they were gaining or falling back - fantastic
