Default "Bugatti Type 35 By Pur Sang Is The Only Real Replica

This is the title of an article I saw today on Yahoo News, and below is the attached link. The Bugatti replica is a pretty cool car, I'd love to see one. There are also some comments on Cobras and replicas, or representations as the author describes them. It makes no difference to me what he or anyone else calls them. I always enjoy driving mine and have a big grin in my face once that big V8 roars to life.

I enjoyed the article because its how I feel. Some of my friends asked why I didn't just buy a kit. My answer is I never wanted a kit because I want to experience what an original is like to drive. I tell them that most kits might drive circles around an original. I want the original experience good or bad.

Mark

O by the way! I cant afford an original or for that matter the scratch build I am doing. I am enjoying the build now. Hoping to live long enough to enjoy the drive.

I can relate to what the author is saying. I'm one of those who thinks replicas should replicate. The Type 35 is a very good replication but even it's not exact. Different ignition system than the original and some of the plumbing fittings are modern but it's still very close!

There's a Pur Sang Alfa 8c locally and that thing is incredible.
Hefty price tag, too.

The shop in Argentina that churns out the Bugatti replicas was featured on one of those car hunting TV shows. Impressive work for sure. Not sure the author is correct about Cobra replicas....has he never seen a real 427 S/C? Has he not seen replica slabsides?

Jay Leno did 2 separate episodes on Pur Sang, one on the Bugatti and one on the Alpha Romeo. Both are on YouTube and interesting to watch.

Both cars are amazing and the quality of workmanship outstanding. The Bugatti is a little small in the cockpit, but the Alpha is more roomy and has an incredible sound. As Rodneym says, hefty price tags.

"... and some of the plumbing fittings are modern"

I found that the oil system priming is missing. I'm not too familar with such system, but a banjo bolt without hole for example, can't be right.

BUT, in Pur Sang's defense: We don't know if this very car was from them or any of the sattelite producers that possibly mushroomed nearby. Sort of like what happens in Poland, near Kirkham where you can buy Kirkham replicas.

Don't ask me where, but I have seen alu Cobras from Poland advertised in Germany which were not Kirkham's.

Maybe there aren't any Pus Sang Bugatti Replica Replicas yet, but I have seen Maserati A6GCS from Uruguay, with a motor from Pur Sang (as advertised).

No real secrets here, just saying.
