I had heard that they were making them, and briefly thought about it, till I considered the potential price range. Oh well, probably would have had a hard time racing a car that was one of fifteen and could not have afforded it either way. They do look nice. Will be interesting to see what they go for. I was not aware that all of them will be turnkey.

The cars offered by Shelby will be "turnkey" but NOT under the "small volume manufacturers" bill as they will have Windsor based engines and will not be emissions compliant.

We will have roller versions of these via Superformance after the Shelby program is filled. The SPF cars may be built-out to be SVRA legal or streetable.

This will on display in the Dave MacDonald car at Barrett-Jackson.....

Very nice, this body style should have been made available years ago.

There was a press release about this back in May

Shelby.com

The wording of the quote from Joe Conway is paraphrased in other articles and would lead one to believe that this is not a street legal car (due to the turnkey nature). I don't believe this is one of the cars produced under the new rules since it would have to use an emissions compliant engine but rather along the lines of the CSX3000 resurrection cars. They will have a MSO and registration for street is your problem

I think the only news here is that Shelby is actually giving the breakdown between alloy (2) and fiberglass (13) cars, which is interesting in it of itself.

If these are faithful reproductions of the original Sebring Cobras, and limited editions, then shouldn't all of them be aluminum bodies? I can only surmise that the alloy versions will be astronomically-priced and thus affordable to only a very few. Or Kirkham can only produce so many alloy cars for Shelby.

That's exactly it. How ever many the Kirkhams can produce that's what they get.

The details in each car has to be seen in person to really appreciate them. The photo's don't show it all.

It is really quite unbelievable the amount of time and effort that was done to bring these cars to completion. Many hours of research were required to uncover the subtle differences in each cars appearance and configuration at the point in time each of the cars were raced. Many hours of pouring over old photographs, and in conversations with the likes of Allen Grant, Dave MacDonald’s son, Rich and his mechanics Ted Sutton and Wally Peat. These are but a few of the people who gave so generously of their time, remembrances, and use of personal photographs, etc. to insure the accuracy of these cars.

What's the origin of these tribute cobras? Made in South Africa or made in Poland (via Utah)?
Smart marketing by Shelby Bosses. Like Baskin Robbins.

Don't get me wrong these are very nice and tastefully done, but with all these "special edition" cars coming out all the time, doesn't it erode the uniqueness of it's preceding "special edition" cars.

Yes, but in this case, they'll be offered in aluminum and fiberglass, three different colors and the buyers can purchase the Lexus (Shelby) or Toyota (SPF) models. Very unique and special.
