But of course. Yet, the color change was imperceptible to your home viewer.

Well you know that's not true. Here are the before and after pics. I did a beautiful job.

I'm not a big fan of color coded wheels but Pat's wheels make for a nice color.

Agree!

The color of the center spokes looks more "magnesium-ish" in the after-pic.

Nicely done.

From a distance, and with pad dust on them, they will pass for magnesium. The original color finish for Trigos basically just sucks.

For all I know, you photoshopped those pics.

And this is what a magnesium wheel would look like with the coating. No perfectly polished lips. Even Chas' mag wheels, when polished, didn't look as nice as your wheels.

Well, I never really intended to mimic the mag look. It just turned out that way a bit. Mostly, I just hated the original Trigo finish from day one.

You posted a picture of painted aluminum wheels, in order to show what a coated magnesium wheel looks like...

Here's what a real, Dow7 coated magnesium wheel actually looks like:

The color is very similar to the color of Patrick's spokes (in my opinion).

The lips on a magnesium wheel can also be dow7 coated (like these are) or they can be bare magnesium (which gradually turns a darker and darker gray as it oxidizes, until it is almost black- Just like the wheels in the picture of CSX4323), or the lips can be polished bare magnesium, which has a shine similar to polished nickel (mag wheel on the right, aluminum wheel on the left:

the darker the shade of gray a set of real mag wheels are, the more neglected they have been; but another point that I agree with Patrick on, is that the blue-gray color of the center spokes of Trigo wheels looks nothing like ANY shade of gray that you would ever see on a genuine Magnesium Halibrand...

Get your spray can out Robert I am coming over with my Trigos! I have to agree that I think the magnesium look would be better than the standard finish. Especially on a Kirkham.

For anyone interested, the technique I used, adhesion enhancers and all, begin on page four or so of this lengthy thread: Here You Go Chas. - The Finest Fluoroelastomer

i dont think it is very cool to create magnesium lookalike with coating or paint,

what is really cool are these black brown anodized (magnesium) wheels

Remember, all of these cars, and everything on them, are fake. Expensive, but still just fake little toys.

not necessarily ...

a magnesium wheel is a real magnesium wheel even when it is produced in 2017 and a magnesium lookalike coated wheel is a magnesium fake wheel even when it was produced in 1965..

the fact that most cars don't have a sixties vin isn't any excuse to fake anything on the cars...

just my 2¢

You're a genius!

So, you post a real Dow7 coated wheel that's not a real magnesium Halibrand Cobra II wheel? Doh!

Hoping I've inserted this picture of a brand new REAL MAGNESIUM COBRA II WHEEL properly. Looks like the image that quickly I grabbed of the alloy Vintage Wheels' Cobra wheel is VERY SIMILAR to a new magnesium Halibrand Cobra II wheel. Go figure.
