Hood rivets
Hi
I have seen on some pics that some of the Cobras have rivets or screws in the hood. Some only on the scoop but some also around the edge of the hood. Anybody who have more details and information, I like that and consider to copy it on my AC project here in Sweden 😎 |

Different on 427 and 289 and evan between cars of the same version ;-(
I'll link pictures out of my album asap |
And now back on a PC I can link the pictures.
As you can see this are different patterns on 289 Comp cars. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...ictureid=16355 http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...ictureid=16354 http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...ictureid=16353 |
Keep in mind that the only original shown above is the bottom pic of 3018.
The other cars have been remade.... |
Hi Jeff
Thanks for the hint. Do you've any information about the space between the rivets on the Messersmith Cobra? 8-11-8 |
Sorry no, after Richard past away we no longer have those details.
You can kinda get it from picture.... Just have the 3020 measurements but again redone car You could contact SA Museum, Bill Murray in CO. CSX2345 is untouched and at least a go to |
On factory prepared competition 289 Cobras, like the hood scoop diffuser plate, it depended on whoever was assigned to prepare that particular Cobra at SAIs race shop. Actually Richard and I had several discussions on this subject.
The top photo is of CSX2323, it had been rebuilt in period pre-1965, it also was restored by Bill Murray to the SAI team appearance vs the independent race car after AC had completed the repairs. |
