Carb is gonna be small for a 482, so yes, you will have to work on it a bit.

Will I need to just upsize the jets or more than that? It's currently at primary jets - 73, secondary jets - 85. The 3255 is rated at 780 cfm and has vacuum secondaries.

If you use the ol' 3456 rule, you're going to need to move up to a 850 to 1000 CFM.

Yeah, that would put me at around 900 CFM. Hmmm. Sort of hate to get rid of the 3255, but selling it would easily buy a new carb and probably go a good way toward paying the extra for that forged crank that Brent is laughing at me for.

Brent sure is being patient with you guys. Go ahead and call him and order the damn rotating assembly and matching cam and get on with getting on the road to the next thing you're gonna break. Sheesh!

I am running a 482 but wanted the Lemans look. I bought Holley 850 and sent it to Joe Bunetic to have the Lemans bowls added and to de-choke, de-horn and replate the finished carb after tuning it to my displacement, compression ratio and cam specs. Barry R. used the carb to dyno my engine. Looks the part but gives you all the gas you need:

Nice. That's a mech secondary carb, right? I will say that the Lemans bowls are cool, but are a bit of a PITA. I think I will probably forgo them this time around.

I'm thinking of going with a Holley HP 850 or 950 carb. They have the classic look, but no air horn. I liked my vacuum secondaries, but they only offer mech secondaries in larger than 750 CFM unless. There is a classic series 850 that has vacuum secondaries, but also has the air horn, which I'd rather lose.

I know that Brent loves the Quickfuels, but I want the old school gold dichromate finish.

It is mechanical, which I know is not correct, but I didn't have a lot of options with the larger carbs.

Uh, is your carb "buried" in a turkey pan with a Stellings air cleaner? If so, who cares what your carb looks like? Oops, I forgot, you have a CSX with a vintage sideoiler. My bad.
