Jim Inglese setup
Well I finally got my new Jim Inglese Weber system installed and the new valve covers installed so the throttle linkage would clear. Wow

Beautiful set up. How are they working out for you?

Works well when I can get consistent fuel pressure to it from my electric pump. Looks like it's time for a new one.

FYI,
Do not exceed 3 to 3.5psi fuel pressure.

i am running a similar setup and tested several pressures, i have the feeling that fuel pressure around 4 psi leads to better throttle response above idle, also many current racing cobras are running 4 psi

I am at 2.5 psi per his instruction and have a bad miss/ hesitation when the engine is at cruise speed. When I give it more pedal it smooths out until I let off the throttle then it starts hesitating again.
Trying to work it out with Jim over the phone when I can talk to him.

Sounds like a little more pressure than the 2.5 you have might do the trick.
Bump it up to 3.5-4 as the others have suggested and see what happens.
Enjoy. They look sweet!

peterpjb,
Unless you are racing, where you are running the engine at 10/10 with no stop lights or traffic 4psi is a little to much. Also remember that ambient temperature can change your fuel pressure readings also.
If your fuel pressure overpowers the needle and seat you are possibly running something similar to a consatant fuel injection system where the carb is always in a flooded condition, major or minor.

I can try to do an increase tonight and see if the hesitation goes away. I can tell you that even with a cool engine bay the hesitation is there.
Also this. At does not have a return line on the fuel system so I wonder if the could have a influence in the mix as things heat up?

You do not need a return line to the fuel tank.

No dice on increasing the fuel pressure the hesitation is still there. Jim is making me a different set of idle jets and shipping them up.

Better, worse, or the same?
Good to hear Jim's on the case.
I've only ever heard good things?
Good luck

KirkV-
Could I ask you to post a close-up photo of your bellcrank linkage? It appears to be a little difference than ones I have seen before and I'm interested in taking a closer look.
Thanks in advance.

A question for the masses? So my initial setup on the Weber had a size 120 idle jet holder with 85 engraved on it so the assumption is it is a 85. The jet itself is a 70F10 so again my assumption is it is a size 70.
When running at a constant speed the car hesitates and jumps around with a rough run. If I put my foot in it slightly the car accelerates and the engine smooths out until I get to the next maintain speed and it starts the rough run again.
The higher the speed to maintain gets the less rough the hesitation at that speed but it is still there.
When adjusting the idle screws at initial adjustment at about 7/8 turn open I started closing them down and found no change till about 1/4 open then severe stumble. Upon opening them again at about 1 1/4 open or maybe a little more the engine idle smooths out and picks up speed a little. When all 8 are set this wat there is great throttle response.
Sounds like the idle is not getting enough fuel?
We put 95 idle holders in with the same 70 jets and the problem appears to be worse. Again more air less fuel the problem got worse right? I look on a few sites at idle jets and see a size 75 appeared to be the largest the one site had for a 48ida setup.
What do you guys with experience think as I am not a huge carberator guy but know enough to be dangerous?
Thanks
Kirk

Kirk, way cool setup.
I'll write below about my stack injection, but first....
We raced 360 & 410 dirt, wing sprint cars for 14 years. Our sprint injection isn't much different than yours, since both are not electronic. Other than a little tunning on pretty cold or hot days, we'd change the fuel pill (which is basicly a needle/seat) We could turn down the idle to purr like a cat and still get great throttle responce. Talk to any sprint car engine builder or tunner and explain your situation.
I've always wanted two things in my Cobra, a side oiler (which I just bought a 428 for a great price) and stacked injection with the FAST system, but I may get a stand alone system.
The ori1ginal owner had it on a 445ci FE. He's taking his truck back to original, so out goes the injection.
Have you thought of buying a computer system ?
I know with our constantly changing weather here in Nebraska, I'd be tunning a mechanical injection,.....constantly, especially with the grains of water, or humidity/dew point, and the cold fuel.
Here's my TWM/BORLA.
