Every part of my drive train called for a 500 mile break-in period during which you were asked to drive reasonably gently. That includes the clutch, transmission, and limited slip. I think there's probably a thousand other metal on metal parts that probably benefited from a 500 mile ease-in period. The internet advice to immediately "drive it like you stole it" is written by morons who are just trying to impress other morons.

Do not feel stupid most guys do not let them break in I only know about it because I have installed about three of them for customers of a shop that I had worked at.

It'll get broken in at the autocross course and when I drive it on the street. I think I'm gonna hook the rear sway up again. The front tires are significantly warmer than the rear. I think it must be pushing a little.

So how do you do the clutch break in for 500 miles, please?

Today I changed the plugs to the hottest NGKs I could find. It seems to have cured the perceived richness at idle.

No drag strip clutch dumps and reasonable care to avoid excessive slipping of the clutch that can lead to glazing of the disc and building up heat. In other words give it some gas and let the clutch out in one smooth, fairly quick motion and just go.

What plugs did you use? I have had problems when I go up to the tahoe area and never could seem to get the jetting right I was thinking hotter plugs would help.

I bought the hottest NGK they make. I have aftermarket aluminum Chevy 350 heads so the actual plug may or may not work for you. These are iridium with extended tip, long threads, and takes a 5/8" wrench or socket.

I've decided I'm gonna put this one on the market soon. I am in the middle of doing some things to it so I am not ready to do so yet.

I had the pleasure today of meeting Herb and Matt Adams at the Trans Am nationals in Dayton Oh. They were there with the silver bird a car they built for racing about 1978. We had a nice chat about my orange cobra. Matt said it had a North American Fiberglass body. Matt expressed a desire to come and autocross with me some time. I'll be looking for a time to do that.
And they signed my dash.

A few days ago Matt suggested I could get new calipers for the rear of the car from Wilwood. I called and found they do have one that looks like an excellent fit. I will have to take off a wheel and measure all the critical dimensions to be sure.
I think maybe I'll take off the slicks and put street tires back on the car for the sale.

So my plan is to put the "stock" low back seats back in it and treaded tires, paint the roll bar and give it good buffing and detail.

I've had it about 20 months. I decided the side exhaust is damaging my hearing. I also decided that I'd like driving a formula ford in autocross again. I love it and will miss it but at present I have three hobby cars and that is one too many.
