Sickest Looking Valve Covers for SBF...Help me spend some money!
I have a Roush 427R small block and want a more period looking engine bay instead of my rolling Roush advertisement. I have tried pent roof Ford FE covers on adaptor blocks and am tired of the leak issues so time to look at other options that don't require adaptors.
I like the Roush covers as they are BIG and make even the pent roof FE covers look small but that's all I like about them.
Any thoughts on the best options that will bolt right on with no adaptor crap that is old school looking? I was thinking maybe one of the tig welded fabricated covers might look semi period as they have a bit of a pent roof look to them.
There used to be direct bolt on pent roof chrome covers for the SBF motors but they are no longer made.
Canton Racing makes some very nice fabricated covers but I think they are a little too race car looking for a Cobra.

Thanks for the input!

Speedway has them for $30 a pair. Some of the guys are buying two pair and using the two with the breather tubes.
May need spacer under them if you have roller rockers

If I wasn't going for 99% period correct look, my money would be spent on the Blue Thunder valve covers. Old school yet really cool at the same time...

Wish they had more pictures on the Blue Thunder website but you get the idea.
Good luck!!

I would be happy with that if I could get them. I also need them ASAP so waiting several weeks is not an option.

Yeah, he told me that he didn't have them and was having a hard time getting anything from Blue Thunder so to move on if I needed it fast.
I just ordered a pair of the CS Shelby covers so we will see if they fit the 427R. They claim they clear no problem even though they are standard height. I will find out Friday.
Someone really needs to make trick SBF valve covers again. All the really great options appear too have dried up.

I have survival looking into getting me a pair when they are available again unless I find something cooler. In the meantime, I will use the CS Shelby covers provided they fit clear the rockers as advertised.

The new finish is very nice. As it ages, have you been able to maintain the appearance?

Yes, where they are clean the finish is good. I think they'll stay nice with a bit of cleaning and effort, about what most people put into it and a bit more than I do.
Mine were new in 2009, engine has been in two different cars and will go into a third in the next year or so. Hasn't been used in 2 years, just on a stand in the garage.
PM your email address I'll send new/current photos. I'm not sure how to post photos anymore. With guidance I can probably figure out how to post photos.

I got my Blue Thunder valve covers for my 427 S.O. from DSC Motorsports. His father-in-law owns the company that casts Blue Thunder covers.

Thanks, I will give them a call. I don’t think my Shelby covers will fit (looks like the stud girdles will be an issue) but I will find out tomorrow when they arrive.

Ford racing clear anodized on clear 1-3/8 spacers
Spacers are bonded (glued) with ford grey sealant, cork with metal core felpro gaskets. I drill and tap for covers for the wire guides. No leaks no loose wires.
The covers are hard to find though.

I actually found these covers in my search but am over spacers and adaptors so not an option. I’ve had issues despite proper prep an Ford TA31 sealant.
