Looking for help with side screens
My car, a Kirkham 289, did not come with side screens and I would like to have a set. I know that they need to fit to the individual car and top and I am looking for a set that I could use as a basis for my application and modify to fit.
Alternatively, just a frame would be a good starting point.
I'll be in Monterey next week so may not respond as quickly as I would like.
If someone has something that would help and is going to Monterey, they could bring it.
Any suggestions, sources, ideas? All help appreciated.
Thanks.
Mark

ERA 427 side curtain ferrules are not in the OEM location and the pins in the curtains are not in the same location. If I remember correctly the ferrules are 1" further out on the door.

I think my side curtain ferrules should be in the original stock location.
EuropaSpares in England makes frames without the plexiglass and I've sent them an email asking for additional information. Does anyone have any experience with their product?

Side curtains
Does anyone have a set of original or close-to-original side curtains that they don't need?
I would hate to try to make new ones from scratch.
Let me know what you have.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
I ended up making my own side curtains.
I found a super deal on side windows for an unknown type of kit. They appeared to be OEM type design in really rough shape. In addition, I looked closely at the Europaspares frames - they looked really good.
The windows were used as a example to build my own. The two most difficult parts of the build were bending a radius with the aluminum channel that is used at the back of the window and making the vinyl trim.
If you are good with you hands and can get a good look at a pair of windows then go for it. I probably had less than $200 in them and they looked fantastic.
While I was at it I built a unit to hold the windows together in the trunk. It kept them from getting damaged when not in the doors.
I can't seem to find any pictures right now. If you want to discuss, I am glad to walk you thru the process and the types of raw materials needed and where to get them.

Mark,
You mean you didn't learn after the Shelby? I can lend you my 289 curtains after October if you want to copy them.

Hi Mark. I have a set of side screens that I disassembled for modification (which I didn't) to refurb and fit my car. I subsequently got a set in very cood condition that fit perfectly.
I could send you pics and if you're interested sell you the frames.
PM me if you are interested.
Cheers
Greg

Rick,
You're right. I should have kept the ones from the Shelby.
Now I have to get/make another set. Thanks for offering to lend me yours.
I have a local guy that I could ask, if it comes to that.
BTW, love your Princess Blue / Red slabside, but then, it looks just like mine.
Best regards,
Mark
