I got it running again but...
...need some help with my Weber’s. I got the passenger side synched to 9 but the driver side to only 5. When I try to bring up the low side the high side goes up. One source said to disconnect the linkage between the sides. I fear if I do that I’ll definitely screw something up
This has become such a stressful and frustrating build beyond anything I ever imagined

Bill,
I am in no way a Webber expert, but I am starting to learn and am limited in what I can offer. Based upon what I have read and heard from Jim Inglese, one of the things to rule out is binding or looseness in the linkage. I would suggest that with the engine off you manually move the linkage and look and feel for binding or looseness. Do the carbs open and close consistently at the same time. Do it several times, as sometimes it could be on and other times not. You might need to do some adjustments to the linkage. Do you have a top view of the linkage setup?

Hi Bill,
You need to disconnect the throttle linkage from side to side, the only linkage left on during syncing is front to back. You will have to adjust the throttle linkage links to the center shaft after the syncing has been completed. There should be throttle stop screws at the back of each sides rear carb, if there somewhere else put them there. Adjust the rear two carbs so that they match each other then proceed to the front two carbs and match them to the rear carbs. Now adjust your throttle linkage so that it does not change any of the sync settings. Don’t forget to set each cylinders fuel mixture afterwards, as the volume of air being delivered can change the mixture ratio.

I did as ComClassics recommended and the car runs like champ. All carbs now synched. Base timing set at 10 deg BTDC. Idles At 1100 rpm

They were custom fabricated by DG Headers in Auburn, CA. I plan to take it back to him and have him put quieter mufflers on. These race mufflers are just too loud

Good idea going to quieter mufflers. No use going deaf. I have to wear ear protection even with the helmet on when I race. Coming out of the toe of the boot at Watkins Glen in second gear and getting on it, my ears hurt. Take care Bill.

At what RPM does your ignition mechanical advance kick in? Webers like full advance as soon as possible.

I put 20 deg in mechanical advance at 2500 RPM

With the aluminum heads you should be able to get more than that, try to get 36.

So with 16 at idle plus 20 in the curve, we'll get 36, which is what I would run to start with.

I guess it's subject to interpretation but I didn't see 36 degrees total mentioned, only 20 degrees at 2500 RPM.

16° base timing, plus 20° mechanical advance = 36° total advance.

I currently have base timing at 10 deg with 20 more in the distributor. So I should bump the base to 15 or 16 deg?
