Default Jag rear suspension disassembly tips, tricks, helpful advice?

I've been trying to use the search function to find more information but every time I try searching, no matter how long I wait, it tells me that I have to wait 60 seconds instead of giving me results, so I'm just going to make a post.

I'm going to start disassembling a Jag rear suspension set up that I have laying around and I'm looking for any pointers, or advice, or anything you wished you had known before taking yours apart. I'm going to be using it to build a rear suspension for an ERA that I have on order (inboard brakes). I thought about posting this in the ERA section, but I know that the components of the Jag suspension get used in a lot of different kits so I posted in a more general forum. I'm an equipment mechanic by trade, so I'm pretty handy with a wrench, but I've never had anything like this apart before so I'm not really sure what to expect. Is it basic nuts and bolts type stuff or are there some more advanced procedures that I should be aware of?

I know that it doesn't look good for me, trying to rebuild a Jag rear end and assemble an ERA rear suspension when I can't even seem to figure out a simple search feature on a website, but I'm going to take a stab at it anyway.

Well let's take the easiest part first. Never use the search function here on the forum. Instead, use Google and limit the search function results to the clubcobra.com domain by using the "site" delimiter. Like this, just type the following in the Google search box:

jag rear disassembly site:clubcobra.com

And there are quite a few Jag rear rebuilds, disassembly vids, change-outs, you name it, all on YouTube. Some are really, really good.

A good starting point would be to figure out which version/series you have before you tear into it. Some are easy, some are not. Some are not even worth messing with at all. These pictures came off a post somewhere on this site:

Part 2. Let us know and then we can go from there on how to tear it apart.

I sawzalled it out of an XJ6 and I'm pretty sure I confirmed it was a series 2 before cutting it out. It's been so long now I dont remember for sure but I'll use the guide posted above and confirm after work. Thanks for all the input. I'll check YouTube too, can't believe I didnt think of that.

Walking past it just now I noticed the tag says 43/13, which means 3.31 gears. I didnt have time to check anything else because I'm on the clock but I'm 99% it's a series II and I pulled it out of a XJ6.

Is it locking or open? Do you have the entire set up or just the pumpkin? What I found on the late differentials is finding stub axles can be pretty darned time consuming, especially if you don't know what series you have. Other than that, pretty straight forward.

FYI, I've got a good pair of 19 spline stub axles.
