SBF striker (ford racing 535 z head) oil use issue solved
Thought I’d post a new thread that addresses what was wrong; turns out that oil was leaking past the intake manifold gaskets up from the lifter valley into the intake ports...this phenomena used a lot of oil but didn’t leave tell tale plug fouling which I still find weird.
In swapping out the gaskets several CC members astutely observed that the old gaskets appeared to exhibit uneven (less on the bottom) clamping force. The new gaskets (ford racing M-9439-A50) were glued to the heads with gasket cinch per the instructions which may account for the sealing of the new gaskets? The old gaskets (felpro 1262S) were not.
In any case if the consumption resumes I may have to remove, the intake again and have some paralleling work done on the intake mounting surfaces...
In any case oil appetite is zero for now!
Cheers
