I can enter from my user page and see new posts. As soon as I click on the portal or try to enter from the portal it times me out.

It appears the site is mostly on "auto-pilot" and has been for awhile.

Well, gave it a try earlier today with similar results. Decided to try it again tonight and the portal loaded up immediately for the first time in awhile. Nice work guys.

The "views" are still not registering properly. That can trigger other loading problems, so hopefully it's getting looked at.

Website finally seems to me to be behaving as it should during the last 24 hours.
Thank you to whoever fixed it.
I remain optimistic

Cheers,
Glen

edit: "views" appears to still not be updating

Does look like it's working much better. I'm not receiving any notifications by email but still much better!

Site is as fast as anything else I use, except waiting for the timer between post viewing.

It is, once again, as slow at loading as it has been in the recent past. I get the stack of warnings on two different computers and also accessing via my phone.

Site owners/moderators, please fix. If not, access issues could kill this great font of Cobra information.
Too dramatic? If you check site access, it's often at single figures for members online. Here's the current picture:

Currently 11 members online
Most users ever online was 3146 in Dec 2011

I just renewed my contribution to CC last night so that seems to have fixed it.

You're welcome.

Default It is time...

It is time for our Administrator to farm out the day-to-day script maintenance to a third-party. Clearly, he just doesn't have the time to devote to keeping it running smoothly -- that's ok. Just like when we had to bring in Sucuri to act as the intermediate firewall (which eliminated the porn/adware script hacks), it's now time to bring in a third party site maintenance firm to keep it up and running and for the ads/posts/views/replies to track correctly. If you've monitored the "Who's On Line" data, or even just the new thread posts, you know that participation on this site has dropped down to barely a trickle. And just like a restaurant, once you lose your customers because of bad service it can be awfully hard to get them back.

Are you volunteering your time and money?

Won't happen. Not enough revenue to pay someone. And give up begging for money. Just ask everyone who has given what their return on investment was. One group I follow still maintains the forum but even their own stuff gets on Facebook first and sometimes never on the forum and the forum has degenerated into being controlled by three people that don't even contribute to the main theme. There are a few car forums that have membership still but two of the ones I watch have given up. One even tried to sell the forum and couldn't get any money for it and that was 10 years ago. Let's face it, the "forum" method is losing to the Facebook method.

Even this forum software has been sold ... The new one is no longer free.

Forums are going the way of old guys buying fast cars

I'm visiting in Colorado and have no issues from either her or home. Both the path to the forum (which can imply routing issues) and the performance of the forum are as good as they ever are.

and you can hit the main forum page, that has the persistent script errors on the ad incorporation, with no problem? That means this: http://www.clubcobra.com/modules/Jig/index.php

Right, that particular path does not have the near-fatal scripting flaw. Unfortunately, if you try and go via the more traditional http://www.clubcobra.com/ you run smack dab in to the poorly-incorporated ad scripting. It would only take a few minutes to remove that ad link -- it's the same one that crashed us two weeks ago.

But as you've observed, first someone with the knowledge and rights, commonly referred to as a moderator or administrator, would have to care. Meanwhile bookmarking forums directly works.

For many years we had computerworks, who did an admirable job, kept most of us in line, and was almost immune to baiting. Unfortunately, he went completely, 100%,dark about three years ago. I never heard why. Jamo still polices us from time to time, but we honestly don't need it near as much as we did ten years ago. I don't believe he touches the scripting though.
