Paint & bodywork
For those of you that built your Cobra's how much did it cost to have the paint and bodywork done? I've heard anywhere from $5,000 to $12-14,000 and it may depend on where you live ect. Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks.

A boat builder did the paint on mine and did a great job at an excellent price.
Why not ask about working at an hourly rate plus materials? That's how my paint price was charged, and it worked out very favorably
Cheers,
Glen

I think you were lucky. Body shops have a good idea looking at the car . Especially a new one. Hourly can def grow quickly and what are you goin to do once it's almost done @ say $8k.. Then its grows to $11/12k. Do you know anything about body shop jails

Got $8,500 bid in california for not show quality or trailer queen, daily driver quality. Got two more bids coming for this car, Hi Tec will cost more cause it will be my forever car.
BTW Hi Tec body in much better condition than raw ff5 bodies, no mold lines.

I work at a body shop in Wa. State. Best thing is to go to a couple places with good reputations on quality. Some body shops are not even geared for custom paint. Like the place I work at is strictly collision work.
It will also depend on what you are looking for as a final product. Daily driver quality or show car.
Find a reputable place or person and work with them on understanding the goal of what you want for the final product.
You can easily spend $3,000 - $25,000 depending on what needs to be done to the body to achieve the desired look.
