Facebook is not threaded, so finding a discussion on a particular subject will be difficult. The Forum method (which is a carryover from VAXNotes, for those who remember, and later Lotus Notes [the discussion portion, later expanded into an integrated corporate mail and database platform) (both by Len Kawell) ). Just before I retired I convinced our ASIC group that a Forum was a better method of having discussions on the chips than by email. One person got tired of being asked and answering the same questions over and over by developers in the US and in the far east. Forums was the answer.

I hope something can be done. Just the information alone has to saved and made searchable. I’m still at a loss to understand why there’s been no posting of why things are the way they are. If Brent is gone from the site, at least turn it over to someone else but don’t just leave it a mess. I guess I’m too computer illiterate to understand why!

What about Brent's other sites? Are they suffering from similar neglect?

I was finally able to find something I could open on Club Cobra since my old log
on just quit opening anything. Now I think I see why. Hope this doesn't disappear because it has been a big help for me to keep my Cobras going, find events, and communicate with friends.

This site is a real help to me anyway
Hi,
I started building my 1 st cobra in 1995, no club, no easy internet help/answers, I had to phone or write...remember mailing letters to suppliers and established builders.
.Made lots of trial and errors but muddled through it. Now my 3rd cobra went way better after years of info and helpful articles on this forum.
.I have made lots of cobra friends and gone on cruises and events that were listed on the club forum.
It would be a sad day not to browse the forum. I have many great memories of this cobra culture
3 trips down Oregon coast.
2 trips to California.
2 trips to Reno cobra bash(180 cobras were there)
trip to Boise.
many trips to the drag strip.
Too many car shows to count except for winning 'Best in show' with my Daytona cobra at the 2014 Shelby mustang show
we need to look at this forum as a great resource.
Perry

Tom I didn't know you got banned. I appreciated your (what I consider) centrist views.
I share the opinion on this site's value for technical information. Hope to figure out a way to keep it alive.
By the way, is it actually a thing to make money on these sites? Kinda figured it was largely run and administered by avid hobbyists, but that could just be my naivete.

I'm not a Facebook user, but I can see now that CC or any other car forum could not work on Facebook.

Im a member of several motorcycle-related user groups on FB that are very active. They do function similar to a forum in the sense that people post about things (usually with a picture or video attached, which is much easier do to than on this site), then others post comments below the original post. The main difference is that there is no index page where one can go to review current topics and whether there are new posts on those topics. Instead the posts get pushed down the page when newer topics are posted, and you must manually scroll down the page to find an older discussion. Its clunky at best and much harder to find posts that are more than a day or two old.

CC had been quite valuable to me over the years. I'd hate to see it go. Many people have no interest in Facebook or have left it due to politics, privacy issues, etc. I still use FB but it's unbearable during election season which seems to be all the time these days.

Thanks!
I try to be centrist. It is hard these days.

I find it hard to understand that the site owner, Brent, won't post a comment on the state of affairs on Club Cobra.

Don't give up quite yet Boy's, we here in PNW are working on keeping this site going. We were able to get a contact # or two today, had one our (Computer Savvy ) tech friends look at this site, it's fixable. As another non-Facebook person this is my Only contact to our Cobra world, and will do everything here to save it. Besides I have way too many friends here, to lose them, Even Karlos Cheers Tom.

Bravo Alf02
I have been coming here since purchasing my roadster in 2004. I'd hate to lose the support and info this site provides not to mention the entertainment. Facebook has limited value with me. If I don't hear from or see any of you guys again best of luck!!

Whether it's best to stay on vBulletin or migrate is a decision out of my realm, but it's certainly not the only game in town. I note there are conversion / migration services to move from vBulletin to other, arguably more modern, forum platforms (e.g. WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc.). I even saw a 'plugin' from WordPress that's supposed to make the vBulletin to WordPress migration - though there would be a lot of data in CC to migrate.
Good luck with whatever decisions are made.

As a person working on a new build, the site is great for info but has it's issues. Would love to see the thing fixed up and working like one would want. I use FB and you can keep it in terms of trying to find past posts and all the spam you get from them. If a plausible game plan can be done and put into production to better the site, why not pass the hat after to say.... see it is fixed can you donate to the cause (like other sites do). Nothing mandatory, just those willing to toss in some coin to assist in expenses.
