Default Door hinge cover or guards

My EM had padding and duct tape covering the two parallel tubes that are what you see of the door hinges, and end up having your leg against. After 35 years the duct tape is worn and needs replacing. My Drivers side also had a semi ridged foam block covered with black vinyl material and then double sided adhesive taped to the door panel for my thigh to rest and brace against. Any body have any treatments for these points? How about the door hinge limit straps and the door latch pull straps? What did you do or what have you seen?

Hi Mike. There were at least two styles of door hinge covers that I know of.

Here are pics.

1) This style I have on my car:

2) This style has been sold by a number of suppliers and I have a pair like this for sale:

PM me if you're interested.

Cheers
Greg

Thank you
The examples you've shown are way nicer than the layered black duct tape currently used on my old car. I'd like to see more but the pictures are more than I've seen lately, So I'm interested in the hinge covers. as my car is an old replica with out many niceties.
Opinions of advantages and disadvantages characteristics, prices and where to get and how much. I will take in all information. The hinges need to be made from soft material, Not hard pretty plastic. I lay my knee against it and a 2" thick pad glued to the inside door for my thigh to brace off of. I think it works to stoop the door from opening too far and causing damage to the painted stuff.

Hi Mike. The hinge covers are made of molded fiberglass and have a leather grain texture to them.

I covered mine with black vinyl upholstery material to match my interior.

You could put some foam padding over thes covers and then cover them with upholstery vinyl.

These covers are not meant as door stops.

The original cars used a leather strap to stop the door from swinging open too far and damaging the paint.

My hinges had little metal stops welded to the hinges that stop the door. I put rubber bumpers on the stops to soften the "stop".

PM me if you are interested.

Cheers
Greg

ERA uses similar hinge covers.

They are black plastic with a grain on them. I left them as is but My427Cobra raises an interesting point - were they originally bare fiberglass or plastic or were they vinyl or leather wrapped on Street Roadsters?
