Default Goodguys Shootout

CSX3170 came through again this year. We had some anxious moments because they sealed the surface at West World just before the event. We could not get a handle on a way to get traction back but finally got it to work with rake angle, toe, and shock settings. The ABS worked perfectly on the last 4 runs but is throwing a "implausible Yaw event" code when ever the engine goes over 8000 rpm. I am hoping Bosch will help us determine if it is a electromagnetic, or electronic noise causal factor. Voltage is a solid 14.5 according to the data logger. The steering gear needs rebuilding now and it is time to pull the rockers, change the oil and filter, drain the cooling system and give it a rest till next spring.

Congrats on finishing out the season well. As previously stated, that is what a cobra should be doing. Not just being a garage queen. Good luck on next years competitions.

Awesome!!! Congratulations again. What an accomplishment to transform that Cobra into something that handles like that!

The two of you would get my vote for the outstanding Cobra owners of the year on this forum (If there was such an award)for your inspiring wielding of the fine but crude weapon that a Cobra is and proving that knowledgeable and experienced applied to upgrading of old technology and the driving thereof can beat any new offerings.

Thank you for the ongoing reports - I thoroughly enjoy, them and congratulation on your well deserved success - long may it continue.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words.
We did have two areas of trouble one with steering and the other with new ABS. I am having the power rack rebuilt and replacing the pump which should solve steering catch issues. The ABS is a different matter it turns itself off at inappropriate times for 2 seconds then reactivates. The error code is "Yaw rate signal not plausible". It only occurs above 7900 rpm which makes us think it is either mechanical vibration of the sensor itself (it is in rubber iso mounts) or it is some electrical noise on the system buss. Trying to get help from Bosch to solve this one. The voltage in system is a solid 14.5 looking at logs, and it appears to be clean. I am thinking vehicle vibration but will wait to hear Bosch input. It is really giving Scott fits because when that light is on for 2 seconds he has no ABS. Hard to build driver confidence like that.

What happens to your times if you turn it off?

We lose about .5 seconds every 30 seconds based on what the data acquisition says with no ABS. I was going through the engine data on Fridays test runs and found a correlation between system voltage and high rpm. Seems that every time we got an ABS Mil light there was a voltage spike going as high as 16.2 volts so I was wrong about a solid supply voltage. It may be that the engine accelerates at a greater rate than the regulator can control the alternator flux field. I am thinking of putting a couple of high current silicone diodes in series to lower the ABS supply voltage. That may solve this issue. I have not heard back from Bosch yet either. The ABS system has tremendous potential and we have not scratched the surface yet (still using the first setting).

That is an impressive result. Not really surprising though for the ABS.

I tried to answer this question but it never posted? I forgot my password and had to re-register as cobra440 because the software here rejected my attempts
to have my original password sent via email. If you don't want me on the website I will honor that but in case it was an over site I am posting this.
This is Cobra #3170

Lots of less frequently used things on this site are broken and probably have been for a long time. It doesn't surprise me that password reset is one of them. Try contacting Jamo by PM. Or try hitting the "report" button on your topic and say that it's you.

The report button seems a good first step, I assume followed up with a PM to Jamo for extra awareness.

I’d recently read on another site that Jamo said he needed to create an online curriculum pronto for the law course he teaches (at night I believe), in addition to his regular work schedule.

So, Coronavirus may well be impacting his schedule understandably. I assume he can help assist directly, or facilitate indirectly, with something like this as time allows. He’s been muy busio for sure!

Reason your long post as a new member didn't go through is from the long-time filter to control spamming. Simply requires a few more posts by you to be able to post pics or link to other sites, etc. Been explained many times.

It would've helped if you had PM'd me...TwoShelbys did but I suspect you were already frustrated. Trying to help...respond to my PM to you! Also emailed you from site with my personal email for you to respond to. Can't help you without you being engaged.
