I thought you were a lawyer, not an accountant....?
So, back to post #12, at 30% throttle you should be getting good fuel consumption then?

I would have gone with the Tremec Magnum 6-speed with two ODs but the magnum is 3.5" inches longer and my driveshaft would be the size of a Dr Pepper can
I'm thinking of going to 3.27:1 differential .... I have 600+ ft lbs of torque that could pull it I think .

Mine is about the length of a Dr. Pepper can with the T56. It is great though to be cruising down the highway in 6th gear at 70mph pulling just 1900 RPM with 3.70 rear gears and 800 horsepower. It gets about 21 mpg on the highway and about 5 in the city.

If i had the IRS from Hurricane i could do with the 6-speed but with a Ford 9" live axle i'm afraid the u-joints would bind or wear out fast.
I did about 200 miles this weekend and did observe i'm at 2800 rpm at 80 mph.

Agree. Definitely do not want to go that route with a 9". That isn't real bad, but with a 9", you can drop the 3rd member out of there pretty fast and throw in a lower gear ratio.

Correct. I'm looking at going from 3.50:1 to something like 3.27:1 at some point in the future.
(Unless I hit a rich uncle inheritance, powerball, etc ... in which case i'll upgrade to Hurricane IRS and T56 Magnum 6speed!)

With a 427 cid, and the TKO600 2.87 1st gear, you can run a 3.07/3.08 rear, or something like that. It would work fine, and then with the .82 5th, it would be great for cruisin. That's what I'd recommend. I wouldn't change to a 6 speed. Just change the rear.
I ran a wide ratio TL, 2.78 1st, with a 3.07 rear, and it was fine. And then crusin was pretty good for just a 4 speed.
