Welded windshield posts? Thin Glass? I'm gob struck. My E-M for all of it's faults has bolt in windshield frame posts and the best fiberglass in the Replica game. My vintage is 1989 or so. The only thing I might consider to replace it would be an ERA (thin glass and all). When I shut the door on this E-M it sounds like a bank vault. I've owned mine since 2005 and never thought of replacing it. Sorry for the commercial but fix the windshield issues and Drive the hell out of it!

The wi9ndsheild frame is not welded to the car My EM has a bent pipe forming a cowl hoop under the fiberglass cowl. It has two vertical plates welded to that cowl hoop coming out rearwards. The original windshield frame uprights were bolted to out side side both plates. I removed the whole windshield assy. filled the body holes an made new holes in body to the right. The uprights are now left side is now inside that vertical bracket and the right side was shimmed out to the right with 3/8" thick washers
the uprights are 1/4" thick the welded vertical plates are 1/8" thick I figured that moving the left upright from one side to the other equaled 3/8" displacement. But now clamped with grade 8 3/8x 16 bolts, like a former heavy mobile equipment mechanic would .
I'm thinking that those plates will no afford an area for the uprights when at the new correct angle. but I do have another windshield still in the box.
Back in the day EM told me that back when my car was made the bodies were a still moving almost fluid form.
I'm waiting for their call that they are moved and ready.

Well, you'll be pleased to know the shop is making progress on their move. They've started moving some of their restoration projects over as well as my car. The below photo is at the new shop, while they still have much work to do, it is happening. Brent

Hi Mike,
Congratulations on getting your car into the shop. Glad to see you’re making progress toward getting the windshield project sorted.
Below is a photo of your car in the shop, right behind mine. I’ve had my car there getting a few things done over the winter, as you know, while I’ve used my garage to build a trailer.

I am not hijacking the post, I am simply asking if anyone could recommend any shops in the Atlanta,GA area to finish my project build. Or another owner who can help and I will pay very generously.

Shelby Cobra parts - at Cobra Restorers, Ltd. in Kennesaw can probably help you. Not cheap.

So what happens is the air pressure at the base of the windshield forces the middle of the screen back. That is why there is a bracket that screws into the cowl to stop the bottom of the screen moving .. Now....if you've laid the screen back ,..the more you tilt it back the more the center bottom lifts off the cowl. Mine is laid back ..it's lexan.....but I had to reshape the windshield making it deeper in the middle at the cowl...
