That stance looks great! Paint looks new too, so a suggestion if your going to put another set of Billboards on it (i have had 3 sets on my Hi-Tech) go on eBay and get some remnant strips of Expel film about 4-5 inches high and do the rockers and below the rear wheels. It's really inexpensive and does a good job keeping the chips at bay.

its alive
spoke with you years ago when you lived in New York, bought my ccx around the
same time as you.
started mine up after almost 15 years, kept the 351c and added a TKO500 and
a FiTech 400, ready to take the test drive but the weather won't permit.
yours looks great, remember when you had it painted.
just finished the interior kept the seat covers and door cards, changed everything
else.
I have to learn how to post pictures, would like to see more of your car.

Great looking car.
740hp and trans rated at 600 ft/lbs?
So your engine makes 600 torque at 6500?
600 x 6500 / 5252 = 742hp
How much torque does the engine make at it's torque peak?
I think the trans is not up to the task of the engine.

Carbs
I was just looking at this dual quad setup and noticed the carbs mounted in reverse with the vacuum advances on the driver side, primary's in the rear and passenger side carb linkage with a linkage bar running in between the carbs. Is this a standard FE dual quad setup or does this particular manifold require that configuration?

I figure the complete inabiility to hook the tires up will save the transmission. If not, not sure where to go after the Tremec. Their 6 speed handles more torque but there no way it'll fit in there.

If someone convinces you to chassis dyno your car, and straps the rear end down nice and hard, and your engine delivers the 700+ horses, then something is likely to give. But, that's one way to find the weakest link in the chain.

So in the last 7 months have you made any more progress? Is the interior in? Are you close to getting it registered and insured?

I consider tires to be the least expensive circuit breaker in the drivetrain.
Coincidentally, I took my just completed Cheetah out for a limited, low speed test ride yesterday. I thought my clutch might be slipping but after further evaluation I determined the tires were breaking loose under spirited but partial throttle acceleration. As we all know, big engines in light cars require careful application of power.

Glad to see your progress, Doug! I hope you are staying well, too. Looks fab, and the engine is a monster!

I agree, Jim. I think I am actually going to finish before you! And now that we are neighbors, if you get it going we could start the Central FL Cobra Club! Wait, is there one already?

cobra insurance
Doug I read your still have to insure your cobra, just insured mine, I have a 1955 thunderbird insured with Hagerty but they told me they don't insure cobra
replicas, Grundy won't insure any cars in Louisiana after Katrina.
I found this company called American Modern Insurance, they insured both my cars gave more coverage than Hagerty and it was only $150 more than I was
Hagerty for just the thunderbird.
E-Mail me if you need more info. jroussel48@yahoo.com

Dough,
Great news, it has to feel good to get to that point. Car looks great and the motor looks menacing! I actually started my (Antique & Collectibles) in 2008 when I got the frame.... I'm about 90% there. (429 stroked/BW T-10/9" rear....)
Good luck with the finishing portion.

Wow, thread back from the dead!
The car is doing great. It's hard to say if it's "done" or not, as they're never really done. There's always tinkering to be done on them. That said, it's pretty much finished. The interior is in, new Billboards are installed. I have about 500 miles or so on it. I'm chasing an occasional overheat issue when temps here in TX get over 100, but I'll get that sorted one way or another. I've not opened it up 100% yet, with the power it's got I want to be a lot more confident and familiar with the car before I do that. However, even half way or so, this thing is crazy fast. I respect the hell out of what it can do, and what it can do to me if I screw up.
