After a cruise and some evaluation here's all I can say, I should have done a proper evaluation with the decibel app before I cut the old exhaust apart, so I failed there. I can only give you what it sounded to my ear and what the app said with this combination, and who knows how accurate the app is.

I will say that at close to 600HP and the custom Solid Roller cam I had ground for the combination it's going to be loud with a free flowing exhaust made for Horsepower, there is no way around it.

I feel it's maybe slightly deeper and without the high tones and not a big change. I really like the sound and I would probably never be able to meet the maximum sound requirements at the autocross I use to be a member at without really cutting into the horsepower. I was told by many competitors I was the best sounding car at the events, alas, it came with a price.

at idle 104dB @ 20" , 97dB @ 10ft. from exhaust tip and 105dB in the cockpit at 2500 RPMs cruising

Thank you Rosco & RET_COP for your input. I'm thinking, usually gets me in trouble, I'll probably tackle this project myself. I'm retired and have more time if my wife backs off on the honey do list, than money! I currently have a very nice set of side exhaust with no mufflers. I love it, not sure if I want to keep pressing my luck with the noise police. I also have the original side exhaust with restrictive mufflers, no good for my 482cu.in. FE. I'm going to retrofit the old system with the Classic Chambered mufflers. I'll use a v-band connector between the collector and the muffler. I can then have a 3" muffler and a 2.5" muffler for the level of enforcement I may encounter, expensive EPA Noise Summonses are not something I can afford. The EPA is not a friend of our hobby!

My 390 gained 80 HP when I switched to the CC, 2 1/2 dia x 28" with 3" dia pipes. Packing and open end of the louvers facing the back. Switched out the original Classic Roadster mufflers which were very restrictive. There was also a new intake manifold. I have since upgraded to a 445 with the same pipes...sounds great many compliments.

Thinking of this exact setup but with a 302. looking for more sound and a deeper tone?

CobraKiwi,

Your pipes look great. But, I would turn those clamps a little so the threaded shaft is under the car and doesn't rip off your ankle while checking your oil!
