Coventry Walnut Creek License Frame
Dear Bay Area Cobra Guys,
I had the pleasure last May of getting in touch with Ron Stroke, brother of Jerry Stroke, who was partners with Fred Ebner and Eddie Thomas, to the best of my research ability, at Coventry Motors in Walnut Creek. Ron was the mechanic there, and acquired a Cobra that he successfully autocrossed during the mid-60’s. As shown in the attached photo, Ron won the overall award at the 1963 Sports Car Olympics. Unfortunately, Ron past in November of 2020 after a brief, non-COVID related illness. He sold his Cobra decades ago, so there is no treasure waiting to be discovered. I started this thread about Ron, because he and Allan Grant were my only links to Coventry. The attached photo confirms Coventry had their own License plate frames. They say Walnut Creek at the top, like all the other WC car dealers’ frames I’ve seen, and COVENTRY on the bottom. I am asking the forum for any help in finding one of these frames, since my Cobra was originally sold by this small sports car dealer in 1963. Thanks for reading this thread and any help you could offer!! Best, Bob
