How did this end up? Did you find a good painter at a reasonable cost?

I reached out to members in my local cobra club and got a boatload of suggestions. Whittled the list down to the two most popular answers……Jeff Miller (da bat) and Ken Pike, both who are well known on this forum. I ended up going with Ken Pike, not only because he quoted me a great price but because he is a tad bit closer to me than Jeff. I have two more car shows this month, then I’ll strip the roll bars, side pipes, emblems, windshield, etc off the car and trailer it up to Ken on November 8th. He said about 3 months to get it done, which is perfect timing.
Now to decide on whether it’s Monza red or Ford territorial red. Either way, no stripe just pure red.
Wish me luck…..

If you want a very bright red, check out rosso corsa.

I looked at Rossi corsa as another alternative. I’m looking for a deep pure red that has no “orange” shading in it…a friend suggested Ferrari Red…ummm no ! Every time I think I find that perfect color shade on a car, I find another car with the same color that has a different look. Damn frustrating. I think I will trust Ken with what I’m looking for and let him have at it. As long as it isn’t “burnt tangerine”…….

Just a quick update.
Dropped my car off with Ken Pike this morning. Great guy. Knowledgeable, friendly and just talking with him made me realize I made a great choice in painters. When choice of color came, I described him the color red I was looking for. Low and behold he comes up with Ford Race Red.
So now the wait starts….should be done the first week of February. He will keep me updated with photos of the progress.
Thanks to all that provided info as to painters.

"Is there anyone out there? I can't hear you, is there anyone here" Sorry, couldn't help it, listened to Dark Side of the Moon, last night with my newest 'Holy Grail' receiver @ 90dbl. (Sansui G-901, euro version) I can't hear (anymore) anyway or any less Cheers TommyRot.

I imagine if the moon said anything, it would be, "please don't come back, you left enough junk here!" Sorry, I thought of that, the first time I heard the song. Cheers, Dennis

Speaking of great car people that also were pretty cool "Rock Stars" doesn't get much cooler than Floyds drummer Mr. Nick Mason, who I spoke with over phone about an Alfa Race Car.
Also hung out with Brian Johnson (Who?) you may know him better as the singer for AC/DC, ended up getting him a buddy's stacker race trailer, and we hung in 93 race season on the west coast I won a lot of bets, "Hey I bet I know the AC/DC singer" No you don't. Want to BET!! I still have his phone# He is just a really fun down to earth kind of guy, like he said, then you put your "Show face on"
Hope you like the story's Mates. Cheers TommyRot
