Default For leak free connection

I am installing a new electric fuel pump. All connected gas lines and electrical wires. After starting I have a very slow leak on the outlet side. I probably need to reseat the brass 3/8 fitting into the aluminum fuel pump block. What should I put on the threads for a leak free connection. I am using teflon tape now but maybe not enough. Teflon tape, pipe dope or something else?? Thanks
