That is not a cargo ship, that is what they call a RO RO ship, it is solely for transporting vehicles. They drive on and drive off. Thank an EV!

Putting out the fire on the Felicity Ace won't be easy. Maritime regulations require automotive shippers to drain the fuel tanks of vehicles in transit, but U.S. law allows 17 ounces (500 mL) of fuel to remain in each car, including anything in the combustion chamber, fuel lines, and tank. That reduces the risk of fuel catching fire, but when there's another ignition source—like the time a recalled Ford's wiring shorted out in transit—the tightly-packed cars offer lots of flammable material if a sufficiently hot fire develops.
This kind of precaution has no equivalent in EVs. And as The Verge reports, the roughly 4000 cars onboard include an unknown number of Audi E-Tron Sportback electric utility vehicles. The reality is worse now that we know EVs are on board the Felicity Ace

After a 9 month wait, my daughter took possession of her new Tycan via the Crystal Ray (different vehicle carrier) just days before this happened. Fantastic car btw, as long as it doesn't catch on fire. Yikes!!

Our local dealer had 31 cars on that ship.
Feel bad for the sales staffers as cars are in short already, 24 pre-sold cars will delay deliveries thus comish for the sales guys. $$$$$
Hits many regions I am sure!

It will not only hit the dealers, it will hit the speculators that ordered vehicles and were looking to turn a profit on them. Porsche for example is ordering cars two years out…..

Back in the day, military vehicles had to be fully fueled before ocean transit?

The guys over on the Porsche site are crying - some say their cars, ordered months ago, are on that ship.

Well, if you pack em full of cars and they get stuck for months waiting to get unloaded at the port it makes sense to scrap them and take the insurance money. How many ships and cargo loads are still sitting full waiting to be offloaded at LA and Oakland??? The shipping companies only make money when they get unloaded and the amount of money is maximized by minimizing the load-to-unload time. A ship sitting idle for a year waiting for truckers in LA had just as well be scrapped.
