Was having a conversation on facebook earlier this evening when I get a "what do you want for your cobra", I throw a $78,500 prices and he comes back and states he can build one for $65,000. Really

It could be done, but it would be a spartan car. This page is a couple of years old, and not FIA specific, but it gives you a rough idea. He probably looked at this page and is just assuming that an ERA is an ERA.

No idea what the current price or lead time is for an ERA FIA these days, would also depend on build config no doubt.

Interesting thread and you have several good options, as you have two excellent Cobras at the moment. If it were me, I would sell the SPF MKII now and keep the ERA for the time being. Continue to drive and enjoy the FIA while you spec out the build for your ultimate Cobra.

If for some reason you change your mind on a custom build, the SPF MKII is easier to replace than the ERA FIA you have now, had you kept the SPF and sold the ERA.

With on all the Cobras that you have owned or driven over the years, I would bet you already have a very good idea of exactly what your "just the way I want" Cobra to be.

SPF or ERA, MKII or FIA you can’t go wrong … Build the Cobra of YOUR dreams Bill, then drive it and enjoy it, don’t save it for the next guy.

I'm really starting to think I'm not certain what I want. 2+ years for an ERA slot, new SPF slots are spec'd for 2-3rd quarter 2024. I should be happy with at least one if not both, just hate jockeying cars around on wheel dollies. When I want to go for a drive, I want to get in, turn the key, and go, not think which is in front vs the other two that are now blocked in, or vice versa. Just lots to take in, thanks for making me think a little harder on this potential decision.

I agree with Tim.
Keep the FIA car, ERA2080, and spec. your own ERA 289FIA build.
I don't know the answer to this, but have you ever spec'd a new Cobra build exactly as you would want it for yourself? If not, then it's difficult to find an existing car that is exactly what you want.

As "somebody" said "Build the Cobra of YOUR dreams.... then drive it and enjoy it, don’t save it for the next guy."

They're both beautiful cars but from a strictly looks viewpoint I'd take the ERA all day. That paint scheme is unusual but it works great on that car. That's the one I'd keep. **Disclaimer, I'm biased towards ERA but I tried to be objective on this one.

Replace the Cobras with a Prius or a Fiat

I admit, I kind of like the new Fiat Spider (better than a ND), but they only made one year in the "Azzurro Blue" (IE: LB).

We will be reviewing our choices from now through the end of the weekend, or a bit longer and decide which one stays, and which one goes.

Any other input is always appreciated as it gives us a different perspective to look at.

Recently spoke with Peter P at his shop. He’s out about 2 years for next delivery dates. New FIA build complete with drivetrain well equipped would be around $100K.

Don't do it, as of this AM, we are leaning towards keeping the current FIA vs the 289 roadster, as the long term wants and needs for us are aimed towards a dual purpose, HPDE and street car. Still deep in discussion, as a Q2-2024 date for a new SPF-FIA build is causing us to rethink everything. Plan to decide in the next day or so as to not miss the prime season selling window.

My free advice would be to keep the ERA over the spf. If you’re really want a top of the line dual purpose street /DE car, sell all of them and get a GT3.

Mister Bill, I knew the original owner, Grumpy Robert as well has Herr Stein, the second so I'm pretty familiar with the FIA. I tried to get Grumpy to trade out the seats, rear end, wheels and spindles since they were what I wished my 2119 had. He didn't want to bother. I don't know what there is about your car that you don't like, but whatever it is can be changed to your liking a lot quicker and cheaper than ordering and waiting for your "dream". Just my 2¢.
