Default Gas does go bad

I thought the car was out in the garage just waiting. In Feb I needed to move the car out to get to the attic space above. I could not get a bang , bang , or fart out. It looked as if it had spark to me. I puled several spark plugs and thought they were black and fouled. I bought new plugs and waited until later. Like last Friday and still nothing. I removed #8 p-lug and installed a test spark plug with a grounding clamp. It sparked as long as I cranked it over. In - tried this and that adding a big can of Sea Foam, Three gallon of aviation gasoline. I had saved from last year "or so" in a five gal. race gas container. It isn't working. I'm getting a headache. I got the pushed out of the garage, it isn't supposed to be pushed it is supposed to start. I'm not thinking rite. What have I missed? I'm losing sleep. I farm the car out to my nearby shop. I'm not getting help here. I tow the car out of the backyard and find I have left it in gear and have been sliding it through the grass into the alley. I told the guys at the shop I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GAS. That is what it turned out to be. They poured gas in the carb and it popped. then they added three gallons of fresh gasoline to the tank and it started and ran they added another five and it ran great. I have a half tank showing on the gauge and will be sure to get the car out and burn it off. I had treated it with Stabil. ..
I had the S&H air cleaners off and it runs great. I'll get my self in trouble. I'm thinking they are another problem. I think I will have to change something there.

How long since the last gas had been put in the car?

I had some gas in the tank about 2 years ago, but didn't mess with the car last summer. Shopping for no ethanol gas is a little more difficult but will make sure the last fill of the year will be no ethanol gasoline. i never had a problem before.
Also, it seemed to be running so much better without the S&H air cleaners. I have shortened elements and the garage did change my filter foam material. I may try to find some less restrictive foam to use as filter material. I'm looking for ideas for carb top than is low profile. The DOVE Tunnel Wedge dual four intake does not leave much room under the hood. I'm looking for something different for the carb filter and or may have to modify the hood.

I read online "so it has to be true" that if you have a 1/4 tank of bad fuel and add a 1/4 tank of fresh fuel you now have a 1/2 tank of bad fuel.

What a good excuse for a drive! And it costs nothing for the fuel and is good for the environment as the alternative is to throw it away

I had a similar experience with a weed eater that had not been run for more than a year. Dumped the old gas, added new gas and it fired right up. . . . I drive the cool cars too often for that to happen to them.

You have a 1/2 tank of "much less worse" fuel.

The “delusion” effect of adding new gas to old gas is a good question. I do it routinely with my Superformance. Assume it makes it not so bad?

Ashamed to say I’ve put less than 5500 miles on it in the last 10 + years.

I do the same with DEF in my diesel truck, which doesn’t move unless towing my RV trailer.
