That disappeared here (Aus) sometime in the '90s !
Cheers!

The price and availabilites of good fuel has made me change the direction I'm going with my engine----The 427 ain't going in the Cobra---its going to be a FI 5.7 alum that will run on 87 oct and give me 20+ mpg-----

At the current US/CAD exchange rate that's over USD$12 per gallon. Ouch.

I thought we (Australia) had expensive petrol and US was cheap, but....
Just checked and converted litres to US gallons and AUD to USD and: - price of 91 octane in Aus converts to USD4.60 per US gallon (91 is our base/common petrol)
- price of 98 octane in Aus converts to USD5.20 per US gallon (98 is our highest octane petrol available for road use)
Has your's skyrocketed in price recently?
Cheers (and commiserations)!

In our area the price is now $5 and approaching $6 here in Las Vegas for 85/87 (usual street gas.I don't keep track of "high octane" any more). Lots higher in CA, 4.00-4.50 in other areas of the country. We had gotten down to 4.15 and it jumped to 4.49 (best price at Sams with card, 5.25+ typical elsewhere) in the past week or so at a time when it should be going down until spring. A place I got it for 3.02 in Colorado in July is now 3.32.

Yeah but a feather and a lead ball fall the same in the absence of other influences ( ie in a vacuum the influence being atmosphere) In the case of gas there are politics involved and we can't discuss that here

To XB-60,,,Aviation gas is 100 octane Low Lead hence 100ll. I haven't bought any in a while so I don't have any idea on the current cost. Here in the states, it's not supposed to be run on the road because there's no road tax applied to it.
I do remember that the prices here vary wildly from airport to airport. Back in the day, I used to blend it with non-alcohol 93 fuel because one of my old Harleys has 13-1 compression.

Right now in the Houston, TX northern suburbs where I'm at, 89 octane regular is about $2.79 a gallon. 93 octane premium is at $3.33 a gallon. Diesel is still way up there, it's now $4.09 a gallon.

And now I'm glad I made choice to stay low compression smaller engine instead of higher compression bigger motor for competition/high performance driving events---costs are too high for my diesel pickup to get the car to races----
