Kit Car valuation: help

We have inherited a 1965 Cobra kit car. This not being in our field of interest we wish to sell it but have no real idea as to the value. The condition the vehicle is in, is that it is inoperable. it is missing a carburetor (likely stolen) and has a blown piston. It was purchased from Heritage Hot Rods out of Chicago, has a fiberglass body in good shape and a big block engine. I am told the undercarriage looks great. The vehicle was driven for many years and has about 14,000 miles on it. Looking for a range one might expect that a Cobra like this would sell for. Thanking you in advance for any help on this.

If you can take pictures front, rear, side, interior, engine compartment, any manufacturer or VIN tags, and underneath showing the frame and front/ rear suspension, then you will probably get some informative responses. With the info posted it could be worth $7k to $50k. A blown engine is probably going to devalue it greatly as a lot of people have $10 to 20k in their engine alone so it’s probably worth no where close to the upper end of that range. There are many, many kit and replica manufacturers over the years, some excellent, many good and many mediocre so values cab be all over the place. The more pictures the better.

As already stated in the first response, pictures are the first way to identify the manufacturer of the kit in question. They are not all the same, and value will depend on more factors than I can post here. So one step at a time, first we deal with identifying the kit, then we can work on casting numbers for the block, heads, etc of the engine, then suspension so we can try to figure out what you have on your hands.

As for additional questions, does the car have a solid rear end, or is it an independent rear suspension, bolt on wheels, or knock off wheels, single roll bar, or dual roll bars, dash gauges, automatic or manual transmission. Again, all basics so we can figure out if you have a pile of shiny parts worth $5,000 or more. Don't get your hopes up at this point, that way, you will be less disappointed if it turns out to be a turd.

If you were to state your location I’m sure there’s a member nearby that could possibly help you identity what you have. As stated earlier any value you get would be worthless until we get more information and pictures. It would be insane for you to perhaps loss thousands of dollars because you didn’t do your do diligence. Don’t do anything until you get a little educated on what you have.

Heritage Hot Rods out of Chicago, perhaps ask them first. If they are still around.
They might offer very little, but may be able to give you the full specs of the car.
