Default Hydraulic Clutch Shims question

I just took delivery of my new Backdraft. Installing a Smeding Performance 427 small block with Tremec tranny and Ram Hydraulic clutch bearing. To set the bearing distance with the bell housing purchased from Backdraft is requiring slightly over 1" of shims. Is that acceptable or did they give me the wrong bell housing for my set up?

If you are installing a single disc clutch its not too unusual. The internal hyd throwouts have become a lot more popular as the twin and triple disc clutches (thicker stackup) have become more popular. Summit sells the ad-on shim kits. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ram-78330
Sounds like you'll need two kits. Ram Tech line is pretty responsive via email and phone (I've used both).

This video may help on the math and gap setup.

You may have to install a travel stop bolt for the clutch pedal once its rigged, so the hyd bearing doesn't hyper extend and blowout.
The Ram bearing adjuster shown in the video looks intriguing as it allows tuning of the pedal engagement it appears.

I use an external hyd clutch slave cyl with a twin disc Ram Force 9.5 clutch / alum flywheel kit. https://www.moderndriveline.com/shop...m-bellhousing/
