Does anyone have information about this Cobra?
I am interested in purchasing this Cobra but the owner does not know the manufacturer. The thing the VIN is 5F07C621662 and the is an ID tag with chassis number SW 61100. The car may have been on eBay on 6/27/22 but eBay records only good back 90 days.

Big,
Don't know either, but there are enough photos here that someone should be able to ID it for you: https://www.classicandcollectorcars....ford-cobra-427
There was a "damage" reference on one of the sites that turned up, but that one had aged out also so no detail available.
Hope this helps,
Tom

Door Cards, door handles, hinges, tunnel carpet, gas tank, Jag rear suspension and side pipe opening all look like Contemporary Classic, lack of front x brace would mean it would need to be a front torsion bar suspension.

That looks like it has a Mustang VIN. “5FO7C______”. My 66 coupes start like this.
Keep your money in your pocket, walk away.

Please review the photos at the top of this post provided by Tom Wells. I have not been successful uploading current photos.

The "SW 61100" signifies that it was originally registered in PA, as that is a state issued VIN. Where the 1965 Mustang VIN came into play is only an issue if it is titled under that VIN and nit the "SW" VIN.

Sounds more like a Contemporary. It was 1981 when VINs were standardized.
Hope the title matches the chassis tag.

Good observations overall and I would add vertical radiator, hidden roll bar legs and the signature butt-high stance to the list of notable features; but the section of frame visible in this photo appears to be rectangular tube, which would effectively rule out Contemporary as the chassis manufacturer. No time to scrutinize the other details - that frame rail just stood out - but someone will likely be able to positively ID.

I own a Contemporary, and I agree. I'm 99% sure it's a Contemporary. Change the tires, lose the snake on the dash and you're good to go. They're good solid cars. This looks like a nice one. If you don't mind me asking, what's the asking price on it?

Buzz posted while I did at the same time. That photo is hard to make out, but if that is a square tube frame then yes, that would rule out Contemporary. I just can't see the photo clearly enough to see definitively.

The frame is box not tube. I was told it is a 427 side oiler but will not see the car until Tuesday. The owner told me he did not see cross bolts on the block. Are there aftermarket market 427’s without cross bolts? The owner took possession of the car when he bought a batch of five cars. He is a Corvette man and knows nothing about this car or Ford engines. The asking price is $69000 which I think is high. After owning an AC MkIV for 15 years I am hesitant to buy a kit. Where should I look for a factory VIN or chassis number.

The "SW" type VIN (again, this signifys a PA state issued VIN and VIN tag) would be located on the firewall, as that is where the PA state police have been ordered to rivet them on. Usually on the passenger side upper corner, but I have seen it located on the drivers side as well.
I do not believe the car is a Contemporary, there are signs of a Contemporary, but the square tube frame is not something found on any Contemporary Cobra, and I've seen the 2nd ever built, as well as the last one out the door from Burtis (now lives here in the Greenville, SC area). It does have knock off wheels, and it does have a IRS and what looks like a 70's Camaro style gas tank......
As for 427 engines, Ford created "center oiler" (non cross bolted) and side oiler (cross bolted) 427 engines. Beware that plenty of people have mistaken 390 engines with 427 heads installed as 427 engines in the past. Check all casting codes, check all date codes at the very least.

Not Midstates - underhood area, underside of hood and Jag IRS.
Not Everett Morrison - Round tube chassis, radiator angle and underhood area. There's a lot of similarities to Contemporary - body shape (early CCX), hood hinges, etc. but that rectangular main frame section in the pic I posted earlier just rules it out.

The engine is equipped with aluminum heads. I will look for any and all numbers. Thanks.
