Since I'm going upward with a new air cleaner it might as well be a dandy. I have seen picture of a oval air cleaner with tall element and two K&N Extreme top fitters. I found it when I was looing at images . Dated 2013 must've been in low rider magazine, that's all I know. anybody have idea of where to go to purchase something like it?

I can't visualize an oval air cleaner with two tops.

I'll try to capture a picture from the web. It was a flat polished oval top, aluminum, I'm guessing. With a red K&N 4' high element and two round red K&N X-Stream TOP elements machined to fit into the aluminum top with the shinny 12 point fasteners in ethe X-Stream elements. I assume they probably made the from billet and machined the aluminum top to accept the round K&N elements . Lots of filter area, no names, but fit was perfect , every thing fitting flush. I would think a black metal top would llook great also. I'm open to more suggestions. I know that once I have the air cleaner in hand, another hood will need to be made to cover everything. Now it is the air cleaner I'm addressing.

Is this it?
This is where I found the photo: Motor Trend
As it appears that both carbs pull air from a common area, this would appear to be less effective than an oval with a single large filter top.

That is the one I was talking about. What large oval filter top? I'm up for any suggestions.

This is what I was thinking about. But I don't know if it comes in a size for two fours.

I have not seen a cover- filter like this for a dual four . the rest of the air cleaner filter and bottom plate need to be manufactured to fit over dual four unit. If I had seen this unit I figured it was intended for a single four carb. Again I'm looking for a combination of parts for an inline dual four air cleaner

My guys at rule Garage said to settle on what air cleaner I'm going to go with first. Then,
we'll start the hood to cover it. I'm headed for a COBRA oval with a 4' element. It will require coming up through the hood line. I want to depart from the forward facing traditional hood scoop. Either a budge in the hood to cover the air cleaner or a cowl induction type of scoop. I want to build another hood and leave this hood alone. I haven't done anything yet other than find the black COBRA air cleaner that i bought twenty years ago. the hood latch handles at the rear of the hood are 24" apart, so I could go a little wider and cut a curved notches for access to the handles. Again, I'll be hiring some one that is equipped and experienced.

I have settled on a black " COBRA" cast aluminum oval dual four air cleaner that I had in the shed for twenty-two years. It has a stamped sheet metal base plate that has two rings on the base to mount to the carbs. I can not find any current adds for oval dual four air cleaners where they mention anything other than the cast aluminum base plates.
Anyway, I had seen a base plate that was made for a members friends' 66 427 Fairlane with an oval dual four air cleaner. It was made from 0.200 "thick flat aluminum, had no rings underneath. It had four 1" or so holes to fit over the float adjusters, to get everything as low as possible. It had extra material outside where the element would sit for clueing a ring of foam to make a seal off under the hood. So, I'm now going to try to create a dual four base plate like that.
I bought a dandy oval air cleaner element. It is a "BLUE THUNDER" 4" tall element. The air cleaner and base first then I will try to get another hood made.

I'm going to replace the Cobra roadster hood that came with the car built in 1984. I intend on a new hood with a raised portion, open to rear. There is no way I can get any more air filter without going up through the original hood line. my Cobra replica is a Everett Morrison from1984 . I'm sure they build them a little different now, and now located in Texas. Anybody near Tacoma-Seattle WA. that does fiberglass on Cobra replicas.?

I’ve seen some cars with exaggerated S/C hood scoops for high rise set ups and rear opening scoops but I don’t have any information on them.

My SC scoop covered everything, with the opening starting at the front third of the front air cleaner, with S&Hs cut down to 1-1/2" tall. I think I'm going to get another hood fabricated with a rear facing bulge or scoop to protect a large "Cobra" oval cast aluminum air cleaner with a tall element. I have seen other roadsters without SC scoops. I laid a straight edge on the top with the air cleaner top with the tall element, and it is about 3-1/2" above the body area in front of the windshield. I live in Tacoma WA and want to find someone near that is equipped and knows how to work fiberglass. near me is because I want to be involved. I do not want to ruin my SC hood. I'm picturing getting a plain fiberglass hood and buying a scoop or having one fabricated and having everything glassed together.as I know it will not be that easy but as you can tell I need help.

low filter
You might want to look at harley-davidson.com product number 29400400 Filter air, Ventilato. It is an oval filter that is 9 3/8 L BY 6 1/4 W BY 2 inches thick. It is made by K&N for Harley and is not available from anyone but a Harley dealer. It's top is a built in filter and is one piece. I made a base out of .063 aluminium. If you don't want to put a hole in it for the hold down you can but I am using an adhesive like silicon. Not sure if two side ways would work on quads but it is worth a look. I think it is a very good looking filter that gives maximum filtration.

The Harley filter is designed to flow well for a less than 100 HP engine. Why in the world would you think that even 2 of them would flow enough to feed a 400 to 500 HP engine? It's just plain ridiculous...

Low filter sources
Just for information sake, this filter has 17.9% MORE filtration area than a round 9 inch by 2 inch filter, 7% more filtration area than an Edelbrock Performance filter of 10 inches in diameter and 34% more filter area than an S&H filter.
