Agree. I prefer Wolf's car.

I am partial to Guardsman Blue, but the wheel backspacing looks off on the second car.

Thanks fellas, this will be hard to let go. Unbelievable joy of a car to drive. But I need another project, so it's got go. Looking at RCR GT 40.
These Cobras were selling like hotcakes, 6-12 months ago, looks like they have cooled off considerably.

You still have 3 days left on your auction and often the action doesn’t get real hot until the last hour. I would be surprised if your car doesn’t pull in a pretty nice sum before the end. But I have been noticing a lot of cars on there that I’ve watched are not meeting reserve. Not sure if that is really a growing trend or that I just wasn’t as aware of it before. Good luck - very nicely done ERA.

That's because everyone is cash strapped and November is the end of the driving season for the next six months. The truth is that in today's economy even the majority of your "wealthy friends" could not come up with fifty thousand dollars on three days' notice, much less 75K or 100K.

The wheel backspacing on the blue car makes that car look very un-ERA like

I prefer Wolf's car too. I remember the build story here on CC. Good luck with the sale Wolf!
...and if you buy or build a GT40 replica, please post pictures

Cheers,

Glen, Brent (EM-0785) and I were joking, I could live with the beautiful shade of gray on Wolf's ERA 289FIA, for years till I went with (Zagato Dark) Italy's version of BRG, alas that plan may be put on hold for a year or so We bought something very rare (One of One, built 1961-64) that will stay with our collection till we are both gone (Unless we can find a way to bring them with us, maybe a little hard on the paint what with all the heat, where I'm going ) A full story will be started on our new toy soon. Cheers Tom.

Patrick,

I think that you have the decimal point two spaces too far to the right, maybe three

Wolf,

You probably are not going to get a good price this time of year, as many people hesitate at dropping big money on a car that will spend the first 3-4 months in the garage before being driven, unless the price is what they consider a good bargain. Come the end of winter/beginning of spring that changes. Good luck, it's a nice car.

Jim

BAT typically doesn't take do-overs, so if you're really trying to sell now your best bet is probably here or cobracountry.

BAT will contact the last bidder if you decide to drop your reserve.

Not for a Cobra, but another type of car, I saw a BaT auction that did not reach reserve and then a few weeks later was run again as a no-reserve auction.

On BaT, I have seen a couple of Cobra do-overs, after the buyer did not go through with the deal.

Unless someone gets caught in the high horsepower banter and allows their ego to take control, I'm not seeing it going for more than 60K.....Wolf's car while nice, was also built to his specs, as with mine, trying to find the right buyer may take more time than either seller expected. Good thing mine is off the market, as I could not replace it for the money.

Bill, I tried to get Grumpy to let me trade out my seats, wheels, hubs and rear end before he sold the car to Ron, but he didn't want to mess with it. I also tried to buy his top but he just wanted to unload everything at one shot. DANG! Grumpy told me that he'd bought every option ERA had to offer except the Wilton wool carpets because Peter talked him out of it. I remember that Ron had lot of bolts and nuts to clean and tighten because Grumpy, being the engineer that he was, as well as having built the car back east, had used never seize on everything to prevent rust. Hope you are driving the snot out of it.

It's an exceptionally well built car, and yes, with every option except for the upgraded carpet. Only put about 500-600 miles on it this year, currently takes moving three cars to get one out....I'm working on a solution to that for early next year. Only time will tell.

I reached a deal with the high bidder for a value just under the reserve. It's going to a Ford enthusiast in Texas. I'll see you guys in the GT40 threads

Wolf, if you're happy, that's a good thing. I noticed the other ERA 289FIR also did not reach it's reserve. Gotta be the wrong time of year. I would have thought $70=$80K should have come your way.
