This is why you don't put a Chevy 350 in a Cobra...
Just caught this selling for $19k at Mecum/ no reserve:
https://www.mecum.com/lots/1098609/
It looked nice until they showed under the hood with a small block Chebbie with a 4 bbl. Wife shouted out "Blasphemy!" -- she's definitely a keeper.

It doesn't look that good before opening the hood and it has less than 1000 miles on it.

HAHAHA...they left the Chevette steering wheel on it! Really...you need a better example than that to prove your point.

Street Beast . a mediocre kit at best! Poor overall quality and shape. A strange "shelf" area behind the seats , a flexy flyer chassis and the motor is so far forward that it was great at doing burnouts but not much else. The price seems about right even though it has a superior engine!

It's not the Chevy engine that makes that an awful example of a Cobra. It's the fact that it's a terrible and obviously shoestring budget build, with more flaws to count just by looking at the photos, that makes it an awful Cobra. That thing is just fugly. I'm amazed they got $19k for it.

Unless the underside is crap, I'm thinking the buyer got a deal. The top loader is already there, which for some people is a plus and there are surely some decent SBFs on the market for cheap and plenty of left over parts for sale. Doesn't need to be super nice or high powered. For $5K-$8K (doing the work yourself) this could be turned into a decent little grocery getter. No show car but still an attention getter and tons of fun to drive. My 2¢

Ehhhh, if you were in high school that would be about as cool as I could imagine. Pulling into the school parking lot and spinning a quick donut... yep.

On second thought, in today's world they'd probably throw you in to juvie for doing that.

Let's not forget Shelby approached GM first to source a motor for his dream.
That said, I do prefer the Ford motors in the replicas.

If the real Cobra's had a Chevy I would have never wanted one. Can't afford the oil, LOL

I've heard that idiotic argument more than once from the Chevy guys. I don't care if Shelby approached Fiat, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Tesla, and Saturn, it ended up with a Ford engine in it, and if you want to build a replica, you put a Ford engine in it. If you want to build something akin to a Fiero with a trailer-trash Ferrari look-alike body kit on it, then by all means, build a Cobra with a Chebby, but don't try to play it off like it's "legal" since Shelby talked to some GM guys about an engine contract.
If you think I'm being unfair, I wouldn't dare put a Ford engine in a GM product either.

The discussion about the Tremec shifter location reminded me of this - look where the shifter is on this car...

Ok, let's just all settle on it's a butt ugly car that was put together by a kindergarten class and move on from it. Way too much time and effort wasted on this one.
