This Cobra rep looks like a heck of a deal for someone.

Not my favorite blue but sure looks like a nice, faithful replica, at a very reasonable price.

That is a surprisingly nice looking car. I particularly like the shot of the rear suspension taken though the trunk with no tank. They should have included a shot of what it looks like with the tank and trunk trimmings in. Really, they should have included about 20 more shots as the build is really kind of interesting. Shots of the engine build would help the sale as well. $90k does not seem unreasonable though.

From only have seeing one of these they were very nice cars.
My feeling is they were top notch replicas with HiTech level precision.
I agree, great deal for someone looking for a 60's rendition car.

There was an active member here named "double ugly" I think who owned an Exact carbon fiber Cobra. Might even be the same car - I can't remember the colour - but barring the composite body, it is one of the most beautiful and accurate replicas ever produced.

EDIT

Double ugly's car was red. There was a lady who posted pics of her blue one similar to this here a few years back.

I think the seller is doing the car a disservice with the pictures used, and the generic build description (especially engine specs).

Otherwise, yes, a good looking car, wonder what it is titled as?

Surprised Curt listed it with those photos. He is anal retentive about pictures, he kept me on the phone one Sunday morning going over EVERY one of the 30 photos I sent for my then SPF GT40 MK II.

I don't quite understand the repeated use of the word "exact" since nothing about it is as original, from the frame out to the body itself. The only thing that might be exact is the body dimensions.

Wrong exact. What it really meant was that if you wanted one, the builders would exact payment for it.

That frame is about as close to an original as you can get

EXACTly
Exact was the actual brand name and it was quite appropriate. Extremely true to the original in almost every detail.

DanEC 05-14-2024 07:45 AM

And all for $89,700 - or best offer. I’m amazed this car isn’t sold.

Grubby 05-14-2024 08:58 AM

Agreed - great deal on that car.

I guess the car's about 20 years old, so you would think it's probably sorted out by now. ;) The small blurb on the engine build says it has standard pistons and standard rocker arms, so I guess there's no stroker in there. And maybe the original pistons? And the weak point on these FEs has always been the original valve train with no end stands. 20 years ago you could pick up a nice set of Erson Roller Rockers for less than a grand. For that nice of a build you would think they would have done some of that. But perhaps they did and it's just not included in the blurb.

...no one else finds posting to this site incredibly slooooow??

Exact was the name of the company that built it. The owner of the company used to be a regular participant on this forum. His name is Roger Bolick. These are BEAUTIFUL cars! Do a search on here for Exact Cobra and/or Roger Bolick, I'm sure there is lots of info to be found.

While people here may be familiar with the background, to most these are one-off low volume cars with little or no current support. Can you get replacement parts? A first-time owner is much more likely to stay with a known brand than one of these. No matter how good they are they aren't well known outside of a small circle.

Tjd 05-14-2024 02:29 PM

From what I can see in the pictures, this car is closer to an original than a CSX 4000. Looks like it’s built to original specs and you can get any suspension part from
Tom at Cobra racing.
Steering rack from flaming river, breaks from Wilwood original CR calipers from the UK.
When I first looked at it, I thought it was a hi-tech.
Someone’s gonna end up with a very nice car for a very good price. that’s my opinion
Tom

Maybe not, these cars were built like a HiTech, CSX Cont, KMS so my guess is not hard to support at all. My guess is easier and faster than many cars on the market.
;)
